    Hi,

Im newish to poker and play on paddy power. I originally stuck to STT but lately have branched to MTT & straight money games just very recently. Out of about 6-8 tourneys in the last 2 days ive came 2nd ($290) and to places around 15th got ($10) & ($100) and also done ok on the straight games down maybe €10 yesterday but up €60 today.

I was just wondering how most people find the above, are MTT too high odds and are STT to low prize money and what about straight NL games. I know its best to go with what suits your game best but i was hoping for some good advice what to avoid as a newbie

As long as you are playing within your limits and are trying to improve your game then it sounds fine.

You will often win a few and then lose a few so you have to be prepared for that.

Alot of players do well early on and assume they have the game cracked but you should strive to recognise the difference between luck and skill and aim to know more and more of the game so that in the long term you will continue to win.
Also watch out for tilt. I play alot of the sit and gos (single table tourneys) and I can go on good runs but then a few bad games and I have to be very careful. I often dont play for a day or so until I can resist calling a big raise with KQ as I am so terribly wont to do when I am in a bad mood.
