Firefox not retaining settings?

    I have an old dell laptop running xp pro2 and the latest version of firefox.

    No matter how often I customise Firefox so as to have the tab and history options showing it firefox loses them next time I start it. Anyway of stopping this happening? (I have no problem adding them on my pc)

    Look in Tools->Options->Privacy tab and at the bottom of the tab there will be a Clear Private Data, check that to see if it is erasing your history or just untick all the boxes and see if that works.

    Could be a corrupt profile. Delete the profile folder and then start FF. It should create a new profile. See if that works. Don't think what Ruu said would effect settings.
