    linkage

    from the article,
According to Nintendo, the device is effectively the same as the Japanese-released Play-Yan, fitting into the DS's GBA slot and acting as a bridge between the handheld and a seperate SD card, which is required to store music files

So it's basically a nintendo branded 'card reader' like you can buy already?

have a psp, don't use it as an mp3 player at all. somehow doubt the ds would be used as an mp3 player either

If it played movies tho it would be a big plus.

Would you really watch movies on that tiny screen?

I wonder if they'll make a smaller "lite friendly" version available, although could you squeeze an SD card into that? Maybe an SDmicro, they're tiny and can go up to 2gigs

Such a product already exists. It's called the SuperCard Lite. It takes SD micro cards and sits flush in the GBA slot of your DS Lite.

They are pretty cool. I got one, a pass card and an SD micro card. The things you can do are pretty cool: videos, Mp3's, DS roms (backed up copies of bought games or homebrew of course)
