Medical Negligence

Would appreciate any constructive insight on the following or from anybody who has ever had a similar problem.

Basically my local GP did not diagnose a problem I had and dismissed it as something much less trivial and fobbed me off with antibiotics, I went for a 2nd opinion some months later and was told exactly what it was. The upshot was I needed surgery.

Would I have a case of negligence against or recourse of complaint against my GP?
