    Hi Guys,

Been following the airgun section (of boards.ie) for the past few months now and have been reading everything eagerly with the prospect of them finally legalising airguns.

Now I’m not a stranger to these guns as I’ve had/owned a couple of them myself but with the idea that we can now finally get better ones and use them without being arrested is great!!. Most of the guns I’ve had were single action spring handguns and one or two small machine types guns (AK & MP5) but they have given up the ghost from the use/punishment they got.

With this in mind I got to looking around the inter-web for a good all round gun to start off with. I also mentioned this to some of my friends who would also be interested and they were well up for it, as these guys used to all own guns at some stage until they broke, again from use.
So I suggested that we form a group and start playing for ourselves and they have seemed to like the idea.

I have narrowed it down to this gun (minus the orange bit, will have to get rid of that somehow) but please inform me if ye think its wrong or crappy or if ye have a better suggestion:
    http://www.kapowwe.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=boyi-m4-m203&Category_Code=airsoft-src-aeg

I know nothing about the electrical side of these guns. Is it just “plug in the battery, load a mag, cock and fire” or what? Do you need “gas” for this type of gun, don’t think so but I’m not 100% sure?
The gun is well below the 320fps limit so that’s a start in itself.

As I said there would be a couple of us interested so we’d be ordering 4-6 of these guns with BB’s, spare mag’s etc in one go. Anyone ever ordered some thing this size?

I’m conscious that ye were afraid that some moran’s would use these guns to cause trouble and that the public & garda would generalise everyone who owned an airgun but be assured I’m not one of those moran’s.

Anyway any idea’s you guys might have would be great and any suggestions regarding the guns would also be great.

    All the best,

    Ian

if you plan on playing in a skirmish with your mates (theres no other way your going to be able to use the guns outdoors and not get arrested :D) then id suggest you up your budget a bit. That gun is only 250 - 280fps so its not all that powerfull (i think 280 is 0.75 joules) so your probably going to want something more along the lines of 280fps - 300fps which you should be able to find for around $120 - $140, so not all that much more that the $90 you were going to spend.
As for ordering 6 at a go, i ordered 4 guns recently (not all for me :)): 2 sniper rifles with scopes and bi-pods and 2 AEG's. I got extras too, like a scope for 1 of the AEG's and about 30,000 BB's and some spare magazines. The more you order, the more you'll save on shipping so probably better off doing it like that.

sorry tried to reply before but the compooper froze!! *GRR*

$90 is cheap but seeing as it's your first real gun it seems good, don't fret about it only being .75, .8 joules. it's not as if you're going to take it out of the box and go straight to your first team trainning is it? these guns are just for you to get used to aegs, adn a place won't open here for 2-3 months.

As far as i know, the gun is actually 0.5 joules, so probably worth fretting over :D

Been following the airgun section (of boards.ie)

NOTE THAT THIS IS AIRSOFT AND AIRGUNS GET THE SPORT VERY VERY VERY BAD PRESS 3 CHILDREN IN COLERAINE AND PORTRUSH HAVE BEEN SHOT IN THE LEG AND NEEDED MINOR SURGERY TO REMOVE A PELLET FROM A .22 CALIBRE AIRRIFLE ONLY A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, ALSO AT THE AME TIME IN ENGLAND A CHILD DIED IN A FREAK MISFORTUNE WHEN A .22 CALIBRE AIRRIFLE PELLET WAS SHOT THROUGH THE PERSONS EYE, IT ENTERED THE BRAIN AND KILLED HIM/HER STRAIGHT OFF.
IN BOTH INCIDENTS AIRSOFT/BB GUNS WERE BLAMED BUT THE GUYS AT AIRSOFT IRELAND AND EVERY OTHER UK AIRSOFT FORUM COMPLAINED AND THE INQUESTS REPORTED IN ALL CASES THAT THEY WERE IN FACT AIR RIFLE SLUGS NOT 6MM BBS SO THE STOIRES WERE CHANGED.

MEAING NEVER EVER REFER AIRSOFT GUNS AS AIRRIFLES IN ANY STORY.
