    Paradise Lost > Opeth

Honestly though, Opeth are intensly boring, but in saying that, I'll have to head along for this, just for paradise lost :)

Opeth are alot of things but definitely not boring! wish they'd play some tunes off Still Life but I'll be happy just to see them after missing it last time (chose Down instead) Looking forward to PL as well, not looking forward to seeing my bank balance after all these gigs though!! :p

I'd check out Lost Paradise, Gothic and embers fire. Lost Paradise is an especially good album though.

holy christ paradise lost are fantastic... how in the name of god did they fly under my radar for so long?

i was gonna go anyway to see opeth twice in the same year, but i wont be hanging round the bar waiting for opeth this time :D

Saw them live once, didnt impress me much, played a good set but I hope you arent looking for any interaction from the band to the crowd. Except for some smartarse comments from the frontman.

Andelainscion: Hey Mikael, great to here you're coming back to Ireland, any chance of you playing The Drapery Falls for us there?
Mikael: Dunno...we're tired of playing that song, but maybe

Guess you're not going then :)

They played TDF the first two times I saw them, and I was slightly disappointed when they omitted it a few months ago. Still, they're absolutely brilliant and whatever they play it'll be a great gig. The inclusion of Paradise Lost is the icing on the cake for what will be one of the gigs of the year!

    Ghost of Perdition
    When
    Under the Weeping Moon
    Face of Melinda
    Night & the Silent Water
    The Grand Conjuration
    Windowpane
    Blackwater Park

    DEMON OF THE FALL

for those who didnt attend, yes, they finished with Demon of the Fall. AWESOME!!
****ing great gig. i wasn't at all impressed by Paradise Lost. they didnt suck, they were just very very mediocre. didnt really look like they wanted to be there at times, except for the rhythm guitarist, who is a headcase :p
sounded like they had some technical problems too.

as for Opeth....as usual, fantastic. even better than in June in my opinion, although that could just be short term memory! it was the last gig of the tour, and they seemed even more relaxed than usual. excellent song choices, even if they didnt play the 10 or so other songs i would have loved to hear :p
according to Mikael, they are going back to Stockholm to have dinner, then they're embarking on another tour, but not stopping in Ireland. i think he may have been referring to a US tour. anyways, after THAT, they're going back to Stockholm...for dinner. then they're recording a new album, and after another stop-off in Stockholm for dinner, they're coming back to Ireland :D

Night & The Silent Water was fantastic, i love Melinda, BWP was great, and finishing with Demon of the Fall....YES :D

Yep, awesome setlist, though I would have died for Funeral Portrait/Drapery Falls. Demon of the Fall was a lovely surprise!

Paradise Lost weren't awful, but not much to recommend them by, except for 'Eternal', that was quite good. Got a video of that mad guitarist, I had a great position, second row, to the right.

First time to see Opeth, missed them in June thanks to Metallica being the day before, but a lot of people said this time they were much better, so I'm happy. Fantastic!
Mikael's so funny, loved the Borat stuff...my highlight was Blackwater Park. Amazing...

Opeth t-shirt I bought had the tourdates on the back '13/11 Vicar Street, Dublin, UK' o_0

Well I thought Paradise Lost were great.
I havent seen them in about 6 years and was really hyped up to see them again.
I thought the setlist was good, they played a good mixture the only downfall was the lack of Icon material.

I hope they come back again themselves.

Opeth were great, Night and The Silent Water was amazing, I was hoping for something off Deliverance tho.
    Fantastic musicians!!!

    Paradise lost weren't great.
    Opeth were.

Blackwater Park was amazing, as was Face of Melinda.

    Brilliant.

Feck, seems like I missed a good gig. Had my ticket ages but had to sell it to a mate of mine, cos I'd exams last night. Seen both bands a good few times, but still, hate missing gigs of bands I like!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,345 ✭✭✭Somnus

God damn it, i didnt get to go this time...Hadn't any money :( Missing Blackwater Park is whats annoying me the most....
