some people find that taking time to write about your play and results can help you focus on where u have been going wrong, u can get feedback from hands you played badly, it helps discipline, and in some ways i tend not stop myself making the odd muppet play if i know i have to write about it later.

especially after a beat, instead of jumping back in to chase/tilt, its a good idea to just talk about it.

and when u do win, its fun to reflect on the good plays etc in writing i find, which can also be a source of inspiration when times are bad.

some reasons why i have one anyway. (albeit its down at present, but will be back soon)

or in Robs case they have a link to a blog that doesn't exist :) Sort your sig out Rob.
Blogs are great for putting any thoughts you have in writing where nobody else will read them. Oh wait thats just me.

if you write a lot of crap a blog is a good place to put it, rather than something like boards where other people will be tempted to read it.

it's a good way to spread disinformation about your game to people you will be playing with a lot

reading my blog, you might imagine that I am a clueless donkey

in fact the opposite is true and I am a combination of Phil Ivey, Stu Ungar and Doyler Brunson all rolled into one poker-playing package.....

    ha!

I like the process of writing, I like the thought that some people are amused or entertained by the entries or that I can improve my writing to that point. Also it often helps me focus on my play though I find I play better if I am not scared of losing because I'd have to report that. Self fulfilling prophesy that one!
Also, I guess I get to go places and do things that your average poker player doesnt and might be interested in.

    But mostly the groupies....

    DeV.

How are these two groups mutually exclusive HJ? Im a bit worried about the type of groupies you attract...particularly their gender.

Blog is a shortened form of 'web-log'

i've been taking advice from KPNuts but for some reason I keep thinking they only want me for my money.

I'm giving serious consideration to this too. Does having a blog promote a more structured/timetabled way of playing? In that you diligently keep accounts after each session(a session may comprise of say 3 STTs/1 Multi/3hours of cash play) Does anyone find that it alleviates tilt somewhat? Does it not overly expose your style of play to other players?

Personally, I keep record of every time I have played pretty much from the get go, use this site https://www.checkyourbets.com
I think cardplayer have similar one as well. It just helps keeping record of what your doing and get to vent in description of what happened, it helps me anyway.
I also know I am profit from when I started which is something to be positive about
