    Wireless FM Transmitter?

I am pretty sure that ANY transmitter is illegal unless you get a licence. That is why you don't seey FM transmitters in electronic shops in Ireland.

Anyone remember when the Savoy cinema said that they had a mobile phone blocking system (i.e. a trasmitter that jammed the mobile network system) - the next day they had to shut the system off (and now I have to listen the all those fexkers who ANSWER their mobile in the cinema!)

So don't be surprised if LIDL pull the transmitter from sale...

It was announced yesterday that short range fm transmitters will be legal in Ireland before the end of the year.

I'm unsure about what the law says at this point in time about selling them but...
I would imagine that Lidl have looked into the matter and are happy enough to sell these without worrying about getting in trouble.

Will defo be picking up the docking station, very cool indeed!

As for the transmitter, I have one (not that particular one), got it online. It is absolute muck. And I have a high end one. Advice: steer clear.

Wireless Telegraphy Act 1926 might have an issue with that. ComReg have only sent their thoughts to the EU who have actually been considering it. ComReg are as usual talking bollox. But making it sound like they "are the decider"

Yeah, true enough. I didn't know that the information came from comreg. I read an article that gave the impression that it was a done deal and not just a recommendation (or whatever comreg call it).

Back on topic, correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it completely legal to sell these devices although it is illegal to use them?

So, Lidl are technically selling you a device that you can't legally use (without a licence).

    edit: post is here... http://www.tuaw.com/2006/09/05/griffin-itrips-to-be-legalized-in-ireland/
I just noticed that it may even have been you who submitted the aricle (it says 'Thanks Damien!' at the end of the post).

I saw that today and thought the same.

However, the other reason that you don't see many FM transmitters in electronic shops is that the audio quality is shite.

To be honest, I don't think ComReg are going to give a rat's ass whether someone's using a very low power FM transmitter for their in-car iPod, especially seeing has they're being legalised by the end of the year. They probably have more pressing things to do like preventing scobies from blocking garda channels and the like...

I got one of the iPod docking stations this morning and I am thrilled with it. It's perfect. No problems at all.

Docking station: Has anyone considered placing this in their car? All you would need is a ciagarette adapter with the right connection for the back of the dock and you have a remote conttol ipod in the car!

Actually, you it may not charge without the USB connection....

got the docking station it's pretty good - and to the previous post - no you don't need the USB to charge it. I don't even have it hooked up to my PC just stuck it on the stereo in my kitchen. Great value I must say - did anyone get the speakers? I was a bit hesitant about getting them without hearing the sound quality
