    Dear Instructor,

This Years IUTF (Irish United Taekwon-Do Federation) Leinster Championships will be held in Dublin City.

This is an open tournament so I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and your students to take part.

All IUTF tournaments are conducted with the competitor in mind, fair referring and well run sections are standard.

There will be sections in Patterns, Team Patterns and sparring, sparring is open to all styles and is light contact continuous (ITF rules) for seniors and semi-contact point sparring for juniors.
Standard ITF rules will apply, however in the patterns section Sine wave is not essential, this is due to the number of non ITF clubs that usually participate at our tournaments. Each pattern will be judged on its own merit.

Please keep a note of the date: Sunday OCTOBER 15TH - registration at 9am sharp. VENUE: ST. DECLANS BOYS SCHOOL, NEPHIN ROAD, CABRA DUBLIN 7 - (just off the Navan Road)

I will forward on the sections and catagories in the coming days.

Please fell free to contact me directly for any further information.

    Warm regards,
    Jon Mackey

    Hey Jon,

Just wondering a bit about the patterns aspect of the competition. How is it broken down. (assuming there are ideal number competing). Is the each pattern is judged on it's own merit implying that it's an "open" entry, or is it split (i.e. splitting the coloured belts in two and having a BB catagory?) I've never entered a pattern or one step comp (are there one steps?) so I can only guess how it would go. So yeah, what's the deal with most/ your one?

    Hi Miles,

What I meant by each pattern is judged on its own merits was that a competitor need not worry about sine wave if they have not trained in the ITF system before. During the patterns section two competitors are called out and the highest marking competitor will go through. Colour belts are seperate to Black belts. The term 'Open' means open to any group irregardless of affiliation.

There is no section for 1 step.. thankfully;)

    Just wondering??

Would you mark a TKD clubs member that practices Pyung-Ahn and Chulki / Naihanchi patterns?

    Ah ye old sine wave,

Something tells me that there has been innumerable amounts of threads about the topic, and even if there weren't, I'm not getting into it. I'm in AIMAA (are you guys anywhere near Gerry Long's school off the Navan road?) and there is no wave involved, but it's cool that you guys judge it impartially, that's very ... all encompassing of you.

Good luck with the "tourney", who knows I might even go if the training goes to plan... :)

Yeh your club is just down the road. I was going to drop up and leave an invite in with him as I couldn't find his email. I do see Amy around sometimes and was going to ask her but haven't seen her in a bit. What nights are you guys training?

I've never seen patterns impartially judged at a competition when different styles are involved. Sometimes this might be intentional, often times it probably isn't, but people generally give better scores to the style they do themselves.
