What do you guys think of Bjorns comments about Woosie? Is he just livid he isn't playing, or does he have a point. Even if he is right, should he have kept quiet until after the Ryder Cup has been played? Is he golfs answer to Roy Keane?

Personally I think he could have simply stated that he felt he should have been picked over Westwood or Clarke (which he should have been) and kept the remaining 'material' until after the event.

Thomas is very emotional player but also very erratic.

First day of Irish Open he was all over the place, then came back and won.

    See these stats:

    Bjorn: http://www.europeantour.com/publish.sps?pageid=127&pagegid=%7B20E6AA6B%2D0225%2D4C71%2DBD89%2D2ACBEE615D69%7D&playerId=6207

    Westwood: http://www.europeantour.com/publish.sps?pageid=127&pagegid=%7B20E6AA6B%2D0225%2D4C71%2DBD89%2D2ACBEE615D69%7D&playerId=9486

Westwood is more consistent over the European events he plays in.

Thomas will never say he should have got in ahead of Clarke as the two are best buddies. I am surprised he would have a go at Westwood also.

Clarke yes, Westwood is OK as a pick but I would have gone for Miguel Angel Jimenz.

Westwood:European Tour Rank: 27 No. Of Events:15 Money Won: €729,991

    Bjorn:European Tour Rank: 11 No. Of Evnts:21 Money Won:€1,070,277

Bjorn has the better form, picking Westwood on his previous performance in the Ryder Cup is just stupid imho.

Bjorn's right he should have been picked ahead of Westwood.

Bjorn doesn’t strike me as the sort of guy to bicker over this type of thing unless he has a genuine case. There are a number of tournament winners this year who may also feel aggrieved, Pettersson, Edfors, Fasth etc… It highlights the strength of the European team, and how desperate these guys are to play in the Ryder Cup.
I have no doubt that talent-wise, 1->12 the Europeans have the edge over the Americans. Just hope that Monty’s spat with Olazabal and Bjorn’s antics don’t upset the camaraderie within the European camp.

I don't think Bjorn was having a go at Westwood, it was against Woosie. I guess he assumed he would be given the nod over Westwood - when he wasn't chosen, he would have expected an explanation from Woosie before it was announced on TV.

But Westwood has made more cuts.

He may have made more cuts but he's ranked 6 places below and 340k less. Bjorn clearly has the better form.

Its a no win situation for Bjorn.

Woosnam is wrong, period. Bjorn and Petterson were the right picks. The picks were purely sentimental and not out of performance. That being said the captain can pick on any criteria he wants...the US picks weren't exactly the best choices either.

If Bjorn comes out afterwards he looks just as bad, if not worse.

Well he's appologised. Quite right too. No-one has a God-Given right to be a wild card choice, there were 5 or 6 players in with a shout.

    Mike.

When you break it down it's roughly an average of 50grand each per event - Bjorn has just played more.

Woosie made a decision and although nobody likes being left out of any team you have to go with the captain. He's probably ruled himself out of being picked again in the future with his outburst.

Personally, I still think Jimenz would have been a good pick also.

That is what i was thinking.
Bjorn didn't seem to consider this when he let loose.

As Mike65 said, he did not have a right to be picked. If he was on form, he would have qualified automatically.

To be honest with you I think it is a bit of a lottery for wild cards. You are not talking about whether a guy is going to perform over a whole season, it is three days of intense golf. In those three days a player may only play 36 holes, so as for whether they are perform to a high level on those days, who knows. Also it is matchplay, so all you have to do is perform better than your opponent on the day.

I am big Bjorn fan but I can understand why he picked Westwood. I think Woosie could have choosen any one of 10 players and it would be 95% down to luck as to whether they play well and whether their opposition play well. From what the other pros have been saying, Darren Clarke is massive influence in the dressing room, and he also may be a motivating factor for the other players. They'll want to win it for Heather.

Just got my season tickets today and writing this now I am getting more excited by the minute. Five tournaments in a row, and a winning partnership with Jim Furyk, Tiger is getting me worried. Lets hope his natural individualistic attitude will win over him again. He is making lots of team noises, and trying to daddy the rookies.

Woosie is a little b*****. He has no tact and he sees only one viewpoint - his own. A man who makes enemies very quickly. Not the right man to be captain of Europe.

There is definitely a danger of a rift in the team between the Brits and Europeans, with the Irish stuck in the middle. Woosnam certainly isnt capable of repairing this, but I think the players themselves will ensure it doesnt happen.

The European team is very strong on paper - definitely stronger than the US team which has more weak links. However, the US will thrive on the underdog status, and in the past we've often seen perceived European weak links play great for the 3 days of the Ryder Cup, so I wouldnt rule out the US winning back the cup.
