SD Card Error

    I got a Samsung Digimax A7 for my dad with a Fujifilm 256mb SD card. I am getting a "card error" message when I put in the SD card, it thens ask me if i want to "format" the card I choose "yes" and it says "Format Error". This card used to work, but the other day stopped working. It seemed to stop working around the time I connected it to a PC to download some images. Is this something that happens a lot with memory cards? What can I do?

    Have you tried to format it on the PC and on the camera ? If so it might be worth bringing it to a shop that has one of those camera reader machines for printing out from - if you have already tried the card on a camera and a pc that sort of machine might be able to handle it. Or if you try the above and still the same could be worth trying on a different pc ie one using linux or something different. Worst comes to worst shouldnt be too expensive to replace.

    Yes, the camera won't do it and I tried using windows to do it but that didn't work either. It's probably not a good idea trying to format with windows but I don't have a card reader.

    Good idea about those self service machines that print off your pics for you, never thought of trying that. Will try to get to one in the next few days. Would the warranty cover this situation. I bought the camera and card in Argos like 3 months ago.
