    Been sick?

I rarely ever get sick - but just this weekend I've been struck down by the flu, and a really bad one at that. Bed bound and suffering from an eternal headache, that wouldn't bother me so much as the fact I have to go to my girlfriends debs tonight..

The last time I was sick was the very weekend I was moving house - god that was awful, lugging furniture around all weekend with the strength of a small child...Flu, again...

Other then that, I haven't been sick in years! I really know how to choose my moments....

I was one week into my degree course when I got really sick with a cold, a chest infection and a bout of asthma.
It was a really bad time to get sick as I missed about 7 college days, and they were really important days, as we had just been assigned our groups, and our first group project.
I could handle being a bit behind when it only effected me, but my absence was actually holding my whole group back.
So not only was I sick, I was seriously guilt tripped, and when I returned to college I had so much work to catch up on that I nearly made myself sick again with the stress!

Horrible horribe tonsillitis two days before my 21st. Party was a nightmare, couldn't drink because of anti-biotics, feeling ****e...

Also a severe ear infection a day or two before an Aesop Rock gig :( so couldn't go.

on the way to the U2 popmart concert, as a foolish teen i consumed far too much beer, far too quickly on the way to landsdowne road. Could feel the vomit on its way up when we were close to the gates. I remember thinking to myself, "hold it together, just till you get into the stadium, then you can find a nice hidden corner to puke into", but unfortunately i was about three feet away from the security at the entrance & began to vomit violently. I was "politely" asked to move back away from the entrance. Having cleaned myself up a bit, i was thankfully allowed in, no questions asked! Ah to be a young idiot again!

Can you go to hell for getting sick on church property after drinking the devil's water?

I got a 24 hour virus thingy when I was about 9 at Halloween and I couldn't go Trick or Treating, I remember all I could do was vomit and it made soooo thirsty and everytime I took a sip of water it was back up again about a minute after drinking it, I have had many extreme pains with a 35 minute long Cramp last year being my worst but the Empty Reaching of that was brutal, it was like resting a ton of bricks on your chest. That was bad.

I once got sick in my uncles car (extreme car sickness and typical Irish level roads) That was bad. Nothing else to report except the odd hangover ruining a few recent Sundays.

I just remembered, when I was in 5th class I got sick the day of the school tour and couldn't go - to make matters worse, I had perfect attendance that year, and my illness fooked it up.
Imagine, missing just one day of the entire school year, and that day being the day of the school tour.
    Life is cruel.

I was about 7 years old and we were travelling by plane. I felt sick in the car to the airport and my parents kept stopping the car for me to be sick on the road before we got to the airport. I kept on feeling sick but never made it. Then when we got to the airport we were waiting in the lounge and sitting next to a businessman with his suit and tie on and his briefcase.

I started feeling sick again and it was too late for my mother to take me anywhere so I threw up right there, and unfortunately for the businessman I threw up into his open briefcase.

Amazingly he was fine about it!

I was really sick at my boyfriend's nanny's funeral. I was sitting in the second row on the outside and i was convinced i was gonna vomit all over the aisle and make the day worse then it already was.

    Longest mass ever.

Something similar to that happened to me. I was really sick one time & my doctor decided to send me to hospital for all sorts of blood tests.. He scheduled me in for the day of my school tour to Mosney. I was so pissed off, but my mam insisted I go. Then when I got their the doctors said I could have come in any day!

Got sick the day the Breeders were playing in the Ambassador in 2002. I hate my weak weak immune system.

Also was sick the day of my best friend's father's funeral so couldn't go. I still feel guilty that I wasn't there even though it was 12 years ago.

I had food posioning a few years back and the day after I got it, I had to play a gig with my band (at the time). Couldnt really cancel because it was a battle of the bands thing and we had paid for it, and the lads were already laying a massive guilt trip on me for being un-enthusiastic about the gig due to my sickness. I couldnt eat anything that day and on stage I started to feel really weak. Im so glad i didnt puke on stage, that would have been horible. But it was the longest 40mins of my life

I was working in Clonmel, travelling there every second weekend to work for the weekend. One weekend i felt really bad and left early, i got the bus home to Cork as i wasnt driving at the time. Well i ended up with that 24hr bug... yep it was gross.. the poor bus driver, vomiting, diahorea the LOT, i lost all control of the functions that hold all those in place.. so embarrasing. I have never felt so out of control in my entire life. it was horrendous.

2nd year in college and was out with lots of mates and had a skinful of drink on me.
Started to chat to one of my mates really hot friends... thought I'd no chance, but gave it a shot as my confidence was high (thanks to the beer).
Eventually made my move and got it on with her, but felt a wee bit ill all of a sudden. I excused myself and said I just had to run to the little boys room... only to reach there just in time to vomit my insides up and fall asleep in the cubicle...
She'd left by the time I came to and I never saw her again...

Not as classy as a mate though who was chatting to this girl in a packed pub during college. He just grabbed his empty pint glass from the ledge, turned his head away from her, and puked a fair bit into it without any "splashage".
Amazingly, he just put the glass down, turned back to face her (who musn't have seen his quick action), and continued chatting her up... and he scored with her!
    Legend...

The awesomness of that cannot be measured.

Can't really recall any innapropriate times except before the DCU Summer Ball this year, i stuffed myself full of free ice-cream (courtesy of Ben & Jerrys) and spent the next few hours holding my stomach.

Sure was! Myself and a mate saw it with our own eyes... just stood there with our own pints, jaws open, in disbelief! One of the smoothest moves I've ever seen. Mind you, he can't remember doing it! Must have been instinct or something.

On the way to the airport in Stuttgart after a hell of a holiday. Unbelievably hungover/still drunk on the train after 20 mins sleep. No air conditioning. No water. It was inevitable. All over the floor. The poor Germans didn't know what to think!!!

Also: On the bus down from Dublin after a mad party. Feeling a little off after several Turbo Shandies (lager and Smirnoff ice for the un-initiated) and no sleep plus scummy Dublin air I had to throw up. Bastid driver wouldn't stop so there was me with my head stuck out the tiny window in the front door getting sick all down the side of the bus while doin 60mph!!! The other passengers were not amused when they were trying to get their bags out from the hold later!!! Every time I hear U2 "Electrical Strom" I shudder as it was the only other thing I can remember!

I was sick on a Bus Eireann bus. Puked on the inside seat which wasn't too bad until someone got on and i had to sit in my own puke. I wasn't about to say no I'm not moving as i barfed all over the gaf.

Sure what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.

Stupid airplanes always make me stick, so I don't eat on them anymore. I haven't been sick in sometime but when I had my visa interview in Dublin year, I got sick twice and had to go home and reschedule putting me months off when I was meant to travel. Stupid Bus Eireann, the bus was like an oven. :(

Funeral. Not the actual thing but I got sick the night before. I was really young at the time. Another time I got a nose bleed in a tech exam. It was either a Christmas test or a mock. I was okay though, just a bit of blood on the sheets.

This is more of an injury than getting sick but a few months ago my friend was doing his woodwork practical for the Leaving Cert. He was cutting something in . . . some kind of saw (I wasn't there and I didn't do woodwork) and it sliced a centimetre or two into his index finger. Apparently blood went everywhere and he went kind of woozy for a minute. Still, fifteen minutes later, he went back in and finished his practical.

Ages back, bad bad dose of food poinsoning the very day I was due to start my first ever real job. I was that bad I couldn't even crawl to the phone to make my apologies. When I got on to the guy a few dyas later, he was really good about it and I never missed a night (bar work) after that...

    heh. i did something similar.
inter cert woodwork practical, i cut myself 4 times with 4 different tools, including a plane. damn right handed tools.

i also threw up on the steps of a very posh Dublin hotel , then got on a coach, threw up on a seat, moved across to the opposite and watched as some dude sat on my puke. when he got up, the half of a peach that came up was gone. that side of the family hasn't spoken to me since.
i think that's one of the main reasons it's illegal to drink when you're 15. :)

When I was doing my Leaving Cert I came down with a nasty migrane the morning of HL Maths paper two. After about an hour I had to go out for half an hour to be sick before finishing the paper.

I threw up on a bus once while travelling from Listowel to Shannon. It happened literally as the driver was pulling into the bus station in Limerick. So I had to clean myself up in the toilets and then get my connection to Shannon. I was so embarrassed. :(

    Some great stories!

I was on a Dublin Bus once, coming into town with some friends (We were heading out) and we were standing at the front waiting to get off. Suddenly some pissed guy at the back of the bus in the middle seat leans forward and starts puking all over the floor, it was horrible as it flowed down the bus towards us! Luckily we got to our stop and jumped off before it reached us!
    Poor guy!

Got a nasty bout of Strep throat when I was sixteen two days before christmas.....really in very bad shape my grandmother in her "infinite wisdom" told me to take some of her antibiotics cause she had similar infection....started to feel better by christmas day...but of course wasnt i allowed to have one bottle of westcoast cooler...by lunch time my parents were having to scrape me off the ceiling. Not exactly one of my crowning moments!!

Anyway also got a dose of Bejing Flue about 15 years ago and my god did I suffer...really was to this day the worst illness Iv ever had....I really thought I was gonna need hospitalisation it was that bad. The result was that now Im the biggest cynic when people try telling me theyhave Flu

If you have the Flu your bed ridden for the best part of a week at least...its a serious illness and no amout of lemsips or uniflu is gonna make you feel weel enough to go to a debs.

A mate of mine went to the cinema with a girl out in Blanchardstown. Since the bus was going to be a while they decided to go to the pub for a drink and wait for it there. That was grand, got on the bus and suddenly he doesn't feel so good (A Guinness followed by vodka he said). He tells her he's going to puke and she thinks quick, whips the clothes out of the shopping bag and hands it to him just in time. Only thing was it was a paper bag so it could only take so much before it went all soggy and broke. He said he didn't care by this point and continued puking through the bag and onto the floor.

Anyone who's got the bus from Lucan to Blanch knows its (or was) only a small minibus so it wasn't long before the vomit rolled around and stank up the whole bus. She then began to feel sick.... :D:D

A few years back Friends planned a road trip to a really fine restaurant.

2 hours before we were supposed to go, I threw my back out. Worst pain imaginable!

They gave me Vikodin pain killers thinking that would ease the pain enough for me to go. Ya right! I'd have drooled in my food as spiked as I was! I just stayed home in severe pain until I could get to a Chiropractor the next day.

I dont think i've ever had the flu either, though saying that i've probably tempted fate and will now get it as my roommate has it!

    Another good bus story....
My cousin and her friend were on a Bus Eireann bus and her friend wasnt feeling the best (good night out the night before I believe). Anyway they had to get off the bus to transfer onto another one, but unfortunately as my cousin was stepping off the bus, her friend, who was behind her, finally couldn't hold it any longer... she puked all down my cousins back! She didn't even get a chance to clean off as they had to run and get the other bus!
Im glad I dont have any stories of this sorta thing happenin to me personally!!

Funny stories that I've seen eh?

I think it's called Funderland or something like that? Comes to Dublin every Winter?

There's a rollercoaster in that, pretty long considering it's indoors. Our class used to get brought up there from 1st-3rd year.

One of our highlights was soon after walking in the door, seeing a stream of vomit coming from this ride, hilarious! Considering that it had a kinda 'sprinkler' effect... :D
