Too many Martial Arts Clubs in Dublin

    Hi Guys,

Please don't kill me but looking at Dublin's population, the percentage of people involved in sport do you think it has too many Martial Arts clubs?

Just looking at it from the Judo perspective, I think there are a number of clubs with very small numbers of regular attendees but also some monstrous clubs.

Looking at it from a MMA perspective, I think there are a lot of clubs with less than 10 regular guys showing up week in week out.

Things like traffic, urban sprawl, poor public transport linkage, the demographic (young males) and politics may account for it.

Anyone any thoughts? Is it the same outside of Dublin?

    I dunno.

Once the clubs are around for the right reason I guess its all good. A shortage of clubs could create an environment whereby McDojo's could operate.

Although we probably do have one or two of those, at least their not making vast amounts of money teaching crap.

Gives people more choice too, which again is mostly a good thing but its a little baffling for the newbie when trying to choose a style.

Why would the amount of people training in a club be a factor? Some like large groups, some like small.

In short, no, I don't think there are too many. There are too many Spar shops, too many bad ringtones and too many people who complain about stuff, but not too many martial arts clubs.

    Good point Roper.

But bigger groups make more sense from a business model point of view I think. Well. Maybe not.
