Just read that it'll cost ST£80 for a gold cup day club badge this year. What a total rip off. Looks like Ed Gillesoie and co aren't happy fleecing racegoers by adding an extra day, they jack up admission prices too. Compare this to €8 admission fee for the arc at longchamp.

well in fairness French racing is cheap on the whole. Prices to big races both in the UK and this side of the water are becoming a bit much and I dont think it is doing any good for the sport.

I'll never again go there for the Gold Cup. the prices are bad enough and on top of that you are packed in like sardines. Ok, I had been on the beer since Monday and it was a tough week but I was just not comfortable at all. If I go again I will head on the monday and come back after racing on wed (maybe thu).

Aintree next year, hear its just as much fun.

Tote monopoly - chalk and cheese.

Robin, I realise the tote monopoly is the reason for some of the discrepancy but I was comparing those figures from a value for money point of view. My main point was that 80 quid for Gold cup day admission is a complete rip off. As has also been mentioned in this thread the fact you can barely move on gold cup day does nothing to add to the experience.

Regular racegoers needs and interests are being sacrificed as cheltenham know that corporatehosts and once a year merchants will pay this outlandish charge for a days racing that pales in comparison to the cards on the first 2 days.
