I see.

And when you "tried" did you not see the first million results, all of which were websites full of photoshop tutorials?

Heres the first five or six for you:
http://www.good-tutorials.com/
http://studio.adobe.com/us/search/sort?sort=topic&product=15&topic=0&type=all&level=all&x=8&y=6
http://www.tutorialized.com/tutorials/Photoshop/1
http://www.absolutecross.com/tutorials/photoshop/
http://www.pslover.com/

http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshoptutorials/

That last one looks especially good.

Heres my 1st one ever! (the images are less than a 100kb each)

I need a site that dedicated to letting "you" creating and hosting your own to show to other people!

The first thing you need to do is find the image you want to use. It is handy if its not close up and would have plenty of color anyway(so you can tell once you make it B&W)

For this tutorial I will be using this image:

imagejg2.jpg

Theres not much colour but its not close up and I will be using the yellow t-shirt so it will have a good contrast.

Ok, so here goes!

1. Zoom in on the selected area you are going to use and select the "Edit in Quick Mask Mode" tool, Keyboard shortcut (Q)

2. Once that is selected pick a soft brush amd start to brush over the yellow areas of the t-shirt until it is fully covered.
It should look something like this:

(you will have more time to go over it cleaner ;))

image3qv7.jpg

3.Then click "Edit in Standard Mode" Keyboard shortcut (Q) This should give you a selection of everything but the yellow t-shirt

It should look like this:

image4bd7.jpg

4.Now go Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation, keyboard shortcut (ctrl+u) Now put the saturation all the way done to 0. Then to make it so it has a high contrast go Image>Adjustments>Curves keyboard shortcut (ctrl+m) and set it to your own liking (high contrast by making a S curve)

It should look like this:

image5ti3.jpg

image6ws2.jpg

5. Now to finish it! This time on the t-shirt to give it more contrast!

Go Select>Inverse Keyboard shorcut (ctrl+shift+i) This should select only the inside of the t-shirt. Repeat step 4. This time adding saturation I used 25 but you can use what you like then use curves for extra contrast!

It should look something like this:

imagefinishqt2.jpg

Oh right. Posting tutorials here is fine, as long as they have something to do with photography. I like the lighting in your example above.

There is a very good 'Resources' thread in the Digital Art/Design forum, you will probably be able to find more there if you wish.

Ok.. Thanks guys!

This place was my 1st thought for posting tutorials but like some of them are going to be very basic so I wasn't sure if there was even a point.. lol :D

Make a few more and maybe they can be stickied or maybe others out there would give it a go also. Fine idea for photo related tutorials to be in the one spot.

I dunno that tutorial would probably work better by creating a new channel from the yellow channel in CMYK to crate a layer mask for an adjustment layer, you know nondestructive editing and all.
Tutorials would be a good idea especially if people can C&C them! I'm always learning new stuff in photoshop.

I'd say Mark at http://www.photographyireland.net would be happy to help you there as well. Where are you going with this? Do you eventually want to sell them (say as podcasts) or are you happy to keep them available for free?

I dont mind giving them out for free, aslong as if they like them we get a bit of recognition :D

I've seen a few on flickr - you put the screenshots up as pictures, with the instructions underneath (you can even draw little boxes and put notes on them, if you like that sort of thing) and put them in a set so you click through each of them, in a series. I hope that makes sense...here's an example I found for Illustrator: http://www.flickr.com/photos/seian/sets/167785/

Agree 100%. Then elven wouldn't have to do all that typing and just give us the screenshots :p

Great idea! Looking forward to all the new ps tips I know you're all hoarding, c'mon now get 'em ready...

I guess now we have two photoshop fora, one for graphic design and one for "touching up" photos, maybe a sticky in both to redirect questions to the relavent forum would be a good idea...
