5c calls to Ireland

A lot of people up here (North/UK) use the UK version; 1899.com, but I noticed on their site that they launched in ireland today. I was checking our eircoms site.. I have to admit, im shocked how much you guys spend on landline calls!

Anyways, maybe this will be a help - http://www.call13434.ie/index2.php

Calls to anywhere in Ireland are 0c.. though there's a 5c connection charge; but uhm.. that's cheaper than 1minute with eircom it seems lol.

Anyways hope it helps! (seems it can also be accessed via mobiles too for international calls)
Rates are in cents per minute. Calls are billed per minute rounded to the nearest cents, include 21% VAT and are subject to change. Calls are subject to a 5ct connection fee.

Shouldn't your title correctly be 5c calls to ireland?

Well, yes and no. They're 0c/min, but subject to a 5c connection charge. Still beats Eircom though, aren't they like 6c/minute, eg:

5 minute call with Eircom (i used their call calculator): 24.62c
    5 min call otherwise: 5c

Still a pretty good saving - it'd add up

While you cannot argue with MdTyke that 13434.ie are cheap, buyers beware when using them for mobile and international calls as they state on the home page they bill by the minute. Even though if you have an account(which I do) and lookin your itemised section of your bill it states down the bottom "bill per second". Which is clearly not the case as I made a weekday call for 2mins/9secs which came to 35c so got charged for the 51secs I didnt use. Im not penny pinching just stating a fact, I think they would still be a lot cheaper for daytime calls to mobiles but evening there would not be much in it between normal telco's
And again their rates to landlines is hard to beat coupled with the handiness you can do it from your normal house fone

I take it that call you made was to a mobile? Anyway it does say on their site that they round the calls up to the nearest minute. For international this seems fine cause they only charge like half a cent per minute to for eg. Spain and Italy. So they can't really bill you in half cents, that's probably why they round it up.

Did I read it right on their site that if you're with Eircom you can dial their prefix code directly before your number but if you're with say esat you have to dial the prefix and wait for a voice prompt? It's just that I'm with esat and that would be a right pain in the ar$e to have to do before each call.
