I like the idea, but as you've implied, it needs photoshopping. Some fiddling (ba dum tsch!) with Curves or Levels should make him more clear. I'll take a stab at it when I get home.

I like this photo as it is, it's about the atmosphere rather than the actual fiddler. Hard to describe, but I think making the fiddler stand out more (as I presume is the advice you're after?) would take away from this.

I don't think you should change it at all.

All i would really do to that is crop it a little more.i think the shadow and light enhances the whole mood of a very nice shot.

I think it's fine as it is but if you want to correct something maybe tone down the highlights a bit? Take the bleaching sunlight out of the grass a bit:

I tried adding a bit of fill light , but the noise in the shadows is horrible. I'd like to bring out the red pants and yellow jacket more alright, and as sionnach says, maybe the grass can be toned down/sorted out a bit.

Im mostly pissed off at myself. I only took the one, sneaky shot. Had no more room on the card/didnt want to ask for a photo/was wrecked and hungry after a long walk........but dang, how many times do you see somebody wearing bard-like clothing sitting against a tree playing the fiddle on a summery evening!!!!! doh!!!

I think it's not worth chucking, I'd be chuffed to have taken it...

Hope this isn't too cheeky, I had a play around to see what I could bring out of it, the main thing i think was the crop to cut out the stuff at the back. Some levels with a layer mask to fade the effect, to darken it at the back too, hue/sat adjustment layer to try and bring the yellow of the grass down a bit and make his trousers stand out a bit more, and i apologise for the last bit - duplicate layer with some gaussian blur behind to do the glowy thing, I just can't help myself :(

Took about 5 minutes and it's a small jpg so obviously not great, but hopefully you'll get the idea...

ok I'll stop making excuses now and show you...

Its good, don't be afraid to have a mess around with it in PS, its all about experimenting. :)

I think this shot has charachter. I'd be a complete divil, though, and clone out the path with grass. Is that going too far? ;)

I wouldn't think so Valentia. I was thinking the same when I saw elven's job on it.
