Pizza Delivery Marketing

    Hello,

Want to advertise my new pizza delivery company, were up against Four Star and Domino and will only be doing delivery initially. The vast majority of the budget will go to leaflet delivery but what other methods of marketing give value for money. Ive found in the past with other advertising that advertising in the likes of the westmeath independant was expensive and didnt get much return on investment and the smaller local papers were cheaper but still didnt get good coverage.

What about radio advertising or should i just stick to leaflet delivery or has anyone any other suggestions. I have a shop in the centre of town so ill use posters to advertise that way. btw i will have about €1,000 - €1200 available for advertising for the first month and was willing to put it all into leaflets but id be willing to consider other forms of advertising. The cost of printing and producing the leaflets is not included above because i will do my own printing, the above amount will be for wages for people to deliver the leaflets.

I had something which was passed through my door recently, which was an incredibly good idea - contact other fast food restaurants around your area to see if they would be willing to collaborate on a 'menu', which would basically be an 8 - 10 page document with 4 or 5 different places to order delivery from. So... Chinese, Thai, Pizza, Chipper, and something else.

Obviously avoid other pizza places, but it might save on advertising, and importantly, because it was decent (and usable, even if they only wanted Chinese food) people might keep it.

Oh, and if you are paying for the delivery of leaflets, make sure that you get them delivered - I used to do that when I was a kid, and plenty of people just dumped them in a field.

Press Releases can often be used to generate some publicity.

Also, stay away from radio. How often do you hear adds for Dominoes or Four Star on radio? There's a reason why you don't!

Flood houses with flyers, once a week for 2 months.

    It will work.

Advertise in Church bulletins and sponsor something in the locality, for schools or gaa teams.

Try running a promotion on your flyers that will help make you stand out - for example - "order any pizza now and be in with the chance of winning your height in Pizza's!"

On a slightly related note. A great piece on effective design in Pizza fliers.

My uncle has set up two chinese takeaways and tried radio on one and it didnt work at all.

He swears by leaflet delivery and says he gets a huge return on it!! But have different strokes!! He used www.leaflet.ie and said it was fairly cheap

Other than that i think your at a dead end with local newspapers, maybe try TV advertising if you have €10k to spend :)

Might be an idea to accept comepitors vounchers too... It could help to entice them to come to you.

Or maybe have a one time only opening special offer of matching a competitor's voucher and giving something extra too (drinks/side order maybe?). Obviously this would require some system of records to see if you've delivered to the house before (on that note, make it one per household and not in conjuction with any other offer!).

    1) Make good leaflets which include menu and few good pictures.

Go to the hotels and travel offices and ask about living them there. Leaflets are often the only restaurant's guide that visitors have.

I was working in the hotel and know how often guests are asking for some food delivery. Especially at late evening / weekends.

    2) Give your leaflet with every pizza delivery. Many clients are keeping them.

    3) Free bottle of Cola, Ice Tea or any other drink with big delivery looks really good. Don't forget do the same for special clients.

It might be really annoying to do, but what about running deliveries til 4am or something on Friday and Saturday nights?

If you were to do this, your leaflets could be based around this fact...it'd catch the eye of every student and late night munchies victim!

another good thing to do is if your local town/area is a good tourist area, arrange for a leaflet to be left in the room, just like the bibles...

in todays fickle world leaflets are trash and lazy people just ring dominoes... u goota catch their imagination...

a small country like ireland.. news travels fast.

maybe on a busy saturday,, get into town with ur best pizzas and let the public relish your free pizzas.. hot girls with help.. seriously and then give the leaflets with vouchers on dem..

I work in this area but I will always say to set up a search engine marketing campaign on Google. The Irish ad market is seriously under-competitive at the moment (outside of travel, broadband and finance) and there's great returns to be had.

If I was setting up a pizza delivery service in Dublin, I would regionally target ads to that area and use keywords like 'pizza delivery' and 'dublin pizza delivery'.

Replace 'Dublin' with county/town of your choice and you can have an ad appear for every Google search on those terms by users in that area. I would set my maximum CPC to something like €0.20 and maybe have a daily budget of €5.

That would get you 25 clicks per day and depending on the quality of your website, could drive a few orders worth more than the maxim fiver you spent that day.

You can also play dirty and advertise on your competitors names by using 'Dominos' and 'Four Star Pizza' as keywords. Though this isn't always the best for ROI but will get your name out there.
