Channel 6 ,complaints

I don't post here at all ,but something has bugged me for a while and I thought it best to say it here.
When Channel 6 aired first ,I thought great .
But the last few weeks have disgusted me ,the miserable way in which they are trying to get cash from viwers. Especially that dial up competition program during the day.

Today finished it for me ,a daft punk music video came on that I had never seen before . Basically it involved a child taking a razor blade and cutting her own flesh off and looking at herself in the mirror at her internal muscles etc.

The line seems to have vanished on decency.

Shouldn't you complain to Daft Punk then?

It obviously didnt disgust you enough to turn it off.

You obviously haven't seen it ,that it could be justified being put on at 3 o clock in the day.
I've nothing against the video ,its the small matter of kids looking at it.

    Yeah I've seen it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7MxREbu8Mk

TBH I've seen more disturbing violent imagry on Sky News in the middle of th day. Now if you're on for mounting a campaign to take THEM off the air then I'm all behind you.

As an aside I presume you were equally against screenings of that Robbie Williams video where much the same sequence of events goes on in it (only much more graphic imho and which I remember being played daytime) or was that ok because it had that grinning idiot in it and an up-tempo tune?

The sickly thing about the daft punk video is the razor blade actually cutting through the hand and face.
I don't want to see channel 6 taken off the air ,but they're very thrashy about how they work the startion ,it annoys me but not to the extent that I can't switch it off .

The most objectionable thing about that is the crap song. The Robbie Williams vid that Pigman II mentioned was much more realistic and disturbing (mainly due to the aforementioned grinning idiot), neither are exactly the most graphic or unpleasant things watchable on daytime TV.

As for the stupid competitions, if you are dumb enough to enter them then you deserve to be ripped-off.

Apparently the UK authorities want to classify them as gambling not competitions due to the randomness and lack of skill/knowledge involved. The TV companies do not want this as they would then have to pay a significant % as tax into the lottery fund.

Still though, probably should have been kept to the watershed....

Isn't there some black-hole where music video's don't need classifications and so can be aired at any time of the day; it's just that most stations practice a level of restraint, purely to avoid controversy and a negative brand-image.

i dont think you have any right to complain, it's free anyway.

andf the music video is very good, its something that people esp teenage girls should see in my opinion, and you do have a remote control or do you let the tv babysit for you?

Why does the cost of something have any bearing on a persons right to complain about it?

I can remember Robbie Williams "Rock DJ" was limited to after the watershed adn it's very similar content. Also I doubt the unedited "Smack my bitch up" would make it onto the Den at any stage :)

I am not complaining ,I'm sharing my opinion on something I feel is important.
Theres nothing wrong with the video ,it is a good video ,I never said otherwise.
3pm in the day is for cartoons and nickleodeon ,not friday the 13th

It is not free. It costs you your license fee and whatever cable or satellite provider you use to watch Channel 6.

In fact, all RTE music broadcasts (like the chart show they used to have on Network 2 years ago) were banned from even saying the name of the song. They titled it "Prodigy - Prodigy" and had a generic flashy screen with no sound to indicate it's position in the charts. The RTE radio stations wouldn't even play the song too if I remember correctly.

I believe that Robbie Williams vid (in it's full length) was not shown on any channels before 9PM either. I do remember seeing it many times in it's cut form (ending just after he strips off his underwear).

Showing that Daft Punk vid in the middle of the afternoon is strange, perhaps it was an oversight or maybe they just don't care. Graphic content like that is not allowed by the BCC before the watershed. I'm sure someone will complain to them about it though, someone always does.

its funny elsewhere I read this being described as an 'afterschool special'...

directed by the an affects guy, who also did chucky and Cheaper by the Dozen 2 and millions of other films
    Tony Gardner http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0307123/

its a bit eek but it is very short and theres no blood... (its a teenage issue should there be a below teenage 7'00 watershed). hands up someone who doens't know someone who has cut themselves

I dunno I think missing the point with this would be same as missing the point of enimems stan...

the game is awful I don't know how those people can do it.... I do like channel6 for playing alot of good music on tv again, since mtv1 nevers plays music anymore, and isn't too much pop on it, they seem to like hilary duff... that who used to work in mojo, comes on makes some smart remarks about paris hilton and then plays her song, how can he live with himself

I have totally missed the point on this one so..... It isn't a good tune and I don't think it express the pain and aguish that people who have masakistic(sp?) tendancies very well.

I couldn't beleive how people didn't get stan, I thought it was an effect way about talking about suicide, which is something that is needed badly in this country espically. It's one of the only emime songs I like, and even dido doesn't bother me on it.

I bought my first daft punk record back in 1995 ,they always have original videos ,even if they are badly produced they are original.
Theres nothing original about this paticular video being put on television at 3pm on a saturday.
To be honest ,I like channel six in general and don't want to see it go ,but if it keeps going the way it is ,I don't see a future for it.The reason I say this is because ,whats stopping another ten stations coming on the air and destroying irish media coverage.
