    Hi there,

    Newbie here, so be patient with me here ! as i try to explain the problem here.

    Specs are:
    HP Pavilion 2ghz,Windows XP SP2,
    Spybot, AVG,Ewido, Ad-Aware, Window washer

    Have used spybot for quite a while but have barely used the scan until now,

    After the initial scan it (i read the tutorial before commencing the scan) it had various trojans,adware, all highlighted in red so i went on to fix the problem(s) in which there were many.

    But later i was on Ebay & then Amazon & i couldnt see the 'item detail' of products that were on sale or loggin in /Add to cart buttons.
    Imdb for instance i couldnt see the top of the page.

    So i dont know what actually went wrong, whatever's in the spybot vault as most of them had details of some adware/spyware.

    So whatever it is, can someone please help. :(

    Regards,
    Standbyme

    What browser are you using? Have you scanned for viruses in safe mode also?

    Hi Ruu,

    Apologies for not gettin back, Im usin Mozilla Firefox at moment.
    How do i go into safe mode? is it somethin to do with msconfig? as i read somethin about that a while back!

    Cheers.

    PS.
    Just thought i'd ask (i dont know if its important) After replyin to this thread-why did i have to log in again & then get a message sayin "wrong/invalid thread specified' & contact Administrator"

    Thanks again.

    To get into safe mode, tap the F8 key when the computer boots up and that will bring up the menu where you select Safe Mode from that. You could have been so riddled with viruses that some of them escaped. Look into msconfig (start->run->msconfig.exe)also yes, check for anything suspicious or if you are not sure then you can post up a screenshot or hijackthis log file of your startup items.

    Sounds more like you've disabled scripts, cookies, security settings or something like that in your browser. Which might be the reason your login isn't remembered aswell. I doubt its anything to do with spybot or virus, spyware etc.

    TempestSabre ->
    As im usin Mozilla it has a Password Manager in Tools > Privacy, but strangely enough it doesnt store the password for this forum & similar forum's, but stores it for other websites?
    How do i able/activate the scripts...

    But i did read about that in the Spybot tutorial that i might have included some tracing cookies in the scan & 'fixed the problem+immunized' but they did show red?

    Ruu ->
    I might just check that, but im not aware of 'hijackthis log file & the screenshots' is that the 'printscr-button' as once i tried to look for the shots but didnt find any?

    As im still learnin this step by step.

    Regards,

    Look at the "settings" for the "tools/options/password tab. Theres a list of things that Firefox clears when you close it. If you have cookies, and password clicked then the passwords will be cleared even though you have remember passwords clicked. The boards uses cookies to store your login. So if you clear those you lose your password.

    Generally if you clear everything in "clear private data" the next time you log on, you should be prompted (by firefox) if you want it to remember the password/logon.

    I'm no expert on this, and I could be wrong, but I think thats the problem.

    I scan with spybot a lot and while it does pick up a few cookies that I can only clear by clearing the cookie cache in FF, I never have had a problem with effecting sites as you describe.

    What TempestSabre mentioned is more likely the issue now that I think of it.

    To take the screenshot when you have the msconfig open and on the Startup tab, press Alt+Prt Scr. This will copy an image of the active window (msconfig), then open Paint and click Edit->Paste. Then simply save that as a jpg file and attach it to your post here.
