I have crooked teeth and overcrowded mouth, i wasnt bad enough to get the free orthodontic treatment as a child and parents didnt want to pay privately, they arent that bad but i would like a full healthy looking set of teeth and cant be bothered waiting for a few years with braces so im considering veneers. how much will they cost if i get them done in dublin or up the north? what exactly happens to your natural tooth underneath the veeneers? do they not rot underneath ? what happens if you had to have venners removed in future ? if you have veneers do you need to keep replacing every deacde or so?
    cheers

I;ve reconsidered and am thinking of braces. Can anyone recommend a good orthodontist, havent had a dentists for a few years so cant ask one.

Also can you get a checkup free on a medical card?

    Hi,
Yes you can get a check up and referral to an orthodontist free on the medical card - check with the dentist first to make sure that they accept the card.
It is definitely better to go to your dentist first and from there to the orthodontist. Don't just go straight to the orthodontist. The reason for this is so that the dentist can check to make sure you have no problems, assess your suitablilty for treatment, and refer you to the best orthodontist. Expect a typical course of orthodontic treatment (braces) to cost approx €4,000 in Dublin
Should you go for veneers? - Probably not, particularly if your front teeth are not already filled. Braces take longer, but are generally less destructive.
    Hope that helps
