Every now and then I think about going into town to take a few gig shots ,
but to be honest I haven't a clue where would be acceptable to take a camera out and start taking photos.
    Any ideas ?

    Brian.

With an SLR most try to kick u out unless u have press credentials and/or a note from the manager/owner :)
    From personal experience :)

As above, you are probably likely to get a slap in the mouth to add to it. :(

venues that you need a pass always:
    the olympia
    the point
    the ambassador
    vicar st

venues that sometimes need a pass depending on the artist playing:
    the village
    crawdaddy
    whelans

venues that never look for a pass:
    any small pubs
    eamonn dorans
    voodoo lounge
    fibbers
    radio city
    carnival

any other venues, ask me, i've shot gigs virtually everywhere they happen in dublin

Thanks for the replies ,cheers dot.org for the list ,
Eamon dorans sounds like my best bet ,I've only got one lens for darkness and it's a 30mm 1.4 ,I think it works out at 50mm standard.

    Appreciate the info.

    Brian.

That's strange - in most places in Belfast here, you can just go in a shoot away, and nobody cares. Apart from the obvious "concerts" as opposed to "gigs" where people pay good money to get in.

Would have thought it's best to let it be known what your doing in a club or pub ,for safety reasons more than anything else.
What if a photographer is there and is getting paid by the band and someone else comes in uninvited :o
