    Hi guys,
Family got some studio pictures recently.
The pictures were great but due to the extremely high price, they could not afford to make doubles for parents etc.
I was wondering what is the best approach to make copies? Is scanning the preferred way and are the pictures protected in any way so that the studio would "copy-protect" their work?
    Would appreciate a response.

I'd imagine scanning and photoshopping to perfection is the best bet. Maybe you could post one and let us photoshop addicts do our best to improve it!

Thanks, will try and get the photo and than scan it. I know very little about scanning myself so I will have to figure out the best way. I wouln't even mind paying someone to do the job.

This being a photography forum, you'll likely get people complaining that you're breaking the copyright rules and depriving the photographer's children of next week's dinner. But you will get plenty of advice on how you can recreate the shots with your own camera - just ask!

    I know.
However, whatever is done is for personal use. Believe me, when I heard the prices for 30 minutes of a photo session, I nearly fainted. Anyway, will have the picture in a few weeks as the persons in posession have gone for a holiday.
I do not have a scanner of my own (always considered obsolete-that is up to now) so was wondering could any place in town scan the pic's?

Most places will require you to assert that you own copyright before they will process them.

So, what most of you are telling me is that scanning can be done and does not ruin the quality of the prints.
That is the most important piece.

there will be issues with colour correction, noise etc attached is a quick rough example of a before and after of some scanned picture I found on google.

If the image is scanned at high resolution on a reasonable quality scanner with low noise (fuzzyness in the image, especially patches of colour like the sky) the photoshop can generally work its magic on correcting any colour issues.

Does anyone of you guys know a reputable place in Dublin where the pics can be scanned with a professional scanner -thus removing the need for a lot of work with /in Photoshop? Most people I know have low -end range scanners only.
