I just got a Sigma 105mm macro lens and have started using it in the back garden. I would appreciate feedback on a few examples of shots from this afternoon.

Looks like a lovely lens.Nice shots with the first one being my favourite. It's something a little diffeent from the usual macros shots.all in all,i reckon you'll have a lot of fun and great results from your lens.

Is the second one a composite?

No. It's a straight shot. I used shadow and highlight on it and cropped. That's all. They are all square because I like that shape at the moment.

cool shots, love the rotten apple. I'll probably splash out on a macro lens at the end of the year. I dunno there's so much more to take pictures of with a macro lens!

Thanks for the feedback. I got the idea for buying the lens because Fajitas on this forum got one. I bought it from AC-FOTO in Germany.
By the way the leave is still on the tree and the flower is growing in the soil. The rotten apple is a windfall.
So no vegetation was harmed in the process!

Ah jools ya ols softie :p. I like the apple, not mad about the last one. How close does the lens focus? 1:1? The best of luck with it.

I ordered extension tubes a few months ago off EBay and then realised that I had ordered the wrong mount. Fair play to the Italian, he refunded me, no questions asked. I must get my act together and order the right ones. I've seen some lovely stuff here done with them.

It focuses to 1:1 and I suppose if you want a larger magnification you get extension tubes.
I am not mad about the third one either I prefer the more visceral #1.

This is a bicycle tyre ( and I have steered clear of hdr). I am tired of puns on this tread!

It just shows I need more exercise (the lack of wear).

/me decides he has to get a macro lens.

How many blades in the iris? The out of focus parts look a little grainy. What ISO?
