Buying off iRiver website

I ordered a car charger for my h120 off the iRiver website the other day but got an email back stating they want a copy of my signature and a copy of an ID/Passport to prove who I am because of trouble accepting my card. But I'm a bit wary, you know, identity theft etc... Just wondering if people have any opinions on whether I should send the info or not

Most online companies do this these days to prevent credit card fraud.

iRiver are a well established company. Just make sure it's an official site etc.
