Adding a Jpeg image to a Word Document?

I want to add a jpeg of a graphic (masthead) to a Word document.

I open the graphic in Photoshop, outline it with the Rectangular Marquee Tool then Select it and then Paste it into my Word page - either normal document or Web Page document.

However, even though it says in Photoshop (Image/Size) that it's only 1.19 x 14cm, it bleeds of the Word page so that I can't see it all.

Why does it increase in size in Word?

How can I make it smaller?

    Many thanks.

    D.

Insert -> Picture -> From File (or Clipart) Select the pic from whatever folder its stored in. To resize the picture after insertion, click on the pic, you'll see anchor points in each corner and in the centre of each side, just drag a corner point to resize.

.... and do you know how to put text beside the picture rather than on top or below it? ....

cos it's going to look a lot better if you do .... ;)

I'd like to know, but first..........

I want to draw a line.

I've Googled this and all say: Click on Autoshapes/Lines and draw the line.

    No prob.

However, when I put my cross shaped cursor on the screen a box appears saying: "Creat your drawing here". I can draw the lines within this box, but I can't write text under them afterwards because the bloody box keeps reappearing!

No mention is made of this drawing box on any site I've read, so I must have something set in my Word that's causing this.

    Help!

    Sorted.

I Googled the problem. 200 million people have been annoyed by exactly the same stupid default.

Tools/Options/General tab. Uncheck the bloody box that says: 'Automatically create drawing box when inserting AutoShapes.'
