example : MP standard raise from a tight solid player AK AQ / High PP.
you call with low PP . flop 8 high 2 clubs and you have hit set..MP bets out 3/4 pot.
    Move. call / raise .. reasons ?

Depends really. sometimes I would raise , sometimes I would flat call which on a flop like this can often be interpreted as a flush draw, and if a non club comes you might get more action. It depends on who I am playing against really, and the size of the current pot.

    standard raise.

If he has a high pocket pair you're much more likely to get his chips early, slowplaying will only make your hand very transparrant and you're likely to win a smaller pot. If he has a big pair It's unlikly he'll run away quickly on this flop and any club kills your action. If he has AK/AQ you're relying on only 6 cards to improve his hand on the turn and if the turn doesn't help him he'll usually go into check fold mode anyway.

Generally speaking against a thinking opponent you should raise with strong hand when your range appears wider to him because he weighs his hand against your range and decides what to do.
For example in the case you described you flop a set on 8 high two-tone board and he has AA.
Your more likely to get money out of him when the draw is there than when the draw hits. He will interpret your raise to be a draw at times and will act accordingly.
Against a bad player you can also raise because they are very prone to think “ah he would not raise with strong hand” .

I cant believe anyone would advise not to raise. No matter what raise. Who is to say that one of your callers does not have AK or AQ suited clubs. Also big pocket pair could hit set on turn for free. Big pocket pair will call you regardless. Never slowplay when ur ahead and there is a draw on the board. Thas my opinion.
