I'm heading to Cuba next week for three weeks and i have no Credith card.
I'd like to know if there is easy acess to ATMs and do they take Cirrus cards.
I have both as aib and Bank of irealnd ATM card.

How did you get your money over there?

    Any help would be great

just brough euros's and a credit card myself. The don't charge commission on exchanging euros but do on dollars. Didn't see any ATM's around but my hotel had a bank office in it. Also they don't accept american credit cards and some Irish ones (forget which, sorry). Place is really cheap though, and the people can be almost too friendly. Watch your runners in dodgy areas!

Use the ATM locator here, put in your information and it should bring up what you need.

Have a look at getting traveller's cheques, they should be accepted in a variety of places. More info on atms here also.

i wouldnt put a lot of faith in that atm locater. what they wont tell you is that they might not work! a lot of the smaller towns dont have them. i used my credit card to get cash advances at the banks, it was the easiest way. as the guy said above bring enough cash and when you find a compatible atm, withdraw enough so that you dont get stuck.

    Thanks for the help,
I'll hopefully get time to run into a bank and find out what they say, but i'll more then likely bring a good bit of cash with me and put mmoney on my freinds cards.

There is an ATM in the Varadero mall but like everything in Cuba its not 100% reliable. I always take cash .

Some hotels in Varadero have ATMs too... There are plenty of ATMs in Havana, but be careful when using them.

MBNA credit cards aren't accepted in Cuba, but cards issued by Irish Banks are.
