The new one on Ireland AM

Being a viewer of Ireland Am in morning before I get up, imagine my shock and horror that they have replaced Maura Durane with "Sinead Desmond,"

    Here's her profile:
TV3 is pleased to announce Sinead Desmond as new co-anchor of its number 1 breakfast show Ireland am. 33 year old Sinead from Dublin is a complete newcomer to broadcasting with the exception of having appeared on Ireland am in the recent past as a guest!

Complete newcomer is right, shes a ex-Sun newspaper hack who's so rigid on the sofa she even makes Mark Cagney look good!!. She's just got no personality and talks with a posh London accent crossed with a D4 accent. I just wonder how TV3 picked her. Collette Fitzpatrick was doing a brilliant job as stand in.

Just wondering what anyone else thinks.

Ah I don't think she's that bad. Granted, she was a little rigid on her first morning at times - example:

Mark: Well tell us about yourself.
Sinéad: Em... what do you want to know?

At this point, Mark, Alan and Aidan (but mostly Mark) told us about Sinéad and her family instead of her doing it herself.

But all in all I think she's quite good. There's people who've been in TV for years who aren't a patch on her. I know that's not saying a lot, but she's not bad and will probably get better as time goes by

I love Collette (but I'm not into her rack!) and I was a bit peeved when they brought this new girl in who has zero experience and used to work for the Sun. Makes no sense.

I'm a little ashamed to say that in a bored moment at work, I wrote an email to them to tell that that she's lame and Collette rules. Surprisingly, they didn't read it on air...

She is very rigid, you'd think they'd have her more prepared, tis her job after all. She looks quite frumpy. Let me hold my hands up - I am no oil painting but then again I don't put myself up to be on TV!!

It's not a bad programme - I only catch it occassionally but it seems ok. Maura Durane was very stiff and snug looking. Colette seems very down to earth and relaxed, she mustn't want the job - can't think of any other reason she didn't get the job - she's there anyway doing the news.

Anna Nolan had no experience when starting the Afternoon Show.

Found Maura Dirrane to be a bit giggly, but competent and comfortable.

Colette Fitzpatrick seemed completely at ease in front of the cameras, very normal and chatty and a very good presenter of what is essentially bubble gum tv. Top marks though.

The new one may come good yet, but so far she looks downright uncomfortable. The look is a bit severe (dunno if it's the lipstick or the posture) and she is willing to lighten up. It may be nerves of course.

How awful? McDonalds awful? I honestly cant imagine TV3 is "awful" pay.

I dont know any of these people you are talking about, Ireland AM is a bit before my time (to get up).

Collette is a sh1te name. Most Irish names are- Roisin, Bronagh, Maura. The only nice ones are Aoife, Niamh and Naoise(which apparently was a male name originally, but its a grand female name tbh).

Can't take Naoise as a female name seriously. Naoise, Ardan and Aillean were the three sons of Uisna.
