Buying a camcorder

    Hi Guys,
Sorry if this has been done before but I need some advice on buying a new camcorder. I know little about them. I am looking for a mini DV and am willing to spend up to €500. Could you please advise on what I should be looking for or even better suggest a camcorder that would be good for the price. It will really only be used for holidays/home videos, nothing even remotely professional. But I'd still want good quality. I am not overly concerned on the quality of the stills as I have a digital camera. Is this a wrong attitude to have ?

I was looking at the SONY DCR-HC35 on pixmania. Does anyone have one of these ? Would you recomend ?

    Please help.
    Tks

I can only advise going into a local shop, be it a generic retailer or somewhere specific like sony centre and trying out the stuff they have in stock. Even go as far as telling a salesman you've got 700/800 to spend on it. Then when you see a model you're happy with, check out the online price and it should be within your budget.

I bought a sony DCR-PC101 about 3 years ago while in the US and saved a packet on a very good camcorder. I can only imagine the above is the best course of action if you dont know exactly what you're after but have an idea of the functions/features you would like.
