    It's $1/$2 PLO on stars.

    Me $189 on button
    Villan $150 in UTG+1
I have 30 hands with Villain but his VP$IP is 56.67

Dealt to Benglian [Ad 9c Js 7c]
    slowtrader1: calls $2
    Villain: raises $4 to $6
    hacao_xiumai: calls $6
    Jeffray73: calls $6
    Benglian: calls $6
    Big G Kid: folds
    Steve Zodiac: calls $4
    slowtrader1: calls $4
    *** FLOP *** [Tc Qs Kd] ($37)

    It's checked round to me....

    Plan?

you are only a 60/40 favourite against trips

    pot it

I am prepared to put up with the bord pairing on the turn and being done with the hand, he would call a pot bet with trips anyway.
By checking I gain deception value. After all what muppet would check the nuts in this position?
And might he not call me down with bare trips on the end if he doesn't put me on the straight?
Or is this deception only worthwhile if the stacks were deeper?

If you know he will call you with trips anyhow, then the turn will either allow you to get away from it or else allow you to take down an inflated pot. I see what you are saying about trying to slowplay, and this is still one issue in Omaha I have - trying to get the max out of the current nuts but not having any redraws and wanting to control the pot size also.

there are about 6 players in this hand, how do you know who the villain is at this stage?

Just bet the pot, the idea is that you get called by trips or two pair, or that AK folds and doesn't draw out on you for half the pot. You are unlikely to win a big pot here anyway. The idea of slowplaying is normally that your opponents can catch something good enough to hang themselves with, here there is no second best hand for them to improve to.

pot pot pot pot pot pot pot pot pot....you want to win this here and now and hopefully if you dont you get one caller and a blank falls on the turn so you win a nice little pot...you have to bet pot here even just to see what your up against.with so many in the hand it is way too dangerous to check here.;)

    True, fair point.
But could you not also say that by checking you give the impression to somebody with trips that they are good? So, in their eyes they have 'improved'?
I am looking to take a few quid from someone with bare trips here, who misses the house, but calls a bet on the end...because they don't see me with the straight?

The other side of the coin.
You are the villain with KKxx for trips.
Do you bet the blank turn when it's checked to you...after the initial round of checking?

How is it dangerous to check here...? I have the nuts...and if the board pairs I am done with the hand...there are no higher straights out there to outdraw me, and no flush draws. It would only be 'dangerous' if i have the chance of getting stacked. True I might lose the $37 in the middle...but I might win a big pot by checking....?
After all, you gotta vary your play, no?

no, you won't win a big pot either way. If someone has trips, they still have to be worried about 9J/bigger trips. You will probably get one bet out of them on the river, but better to get one now and try to get one later on as well.

And yes if I have KKK and it is checked to me twice usually I will bet.

And will you call a bet on the end when the river is a blank, or even make a bet yourself, if your turn bet was called?

    *** TURN *** [Tc Qs Kd] [4h]
    Steve Zodiac: checks
    slowtrader1: checks
    THEPOKERGODS: bets $21 (aka Villain)
    hacao_xiumai: folds
    Jeffray73: calls $21
    Benglian: calls $21
    Steve Zodiac: folds
    slowtrader1: folds
    *** RIVER *** [Tc Qs Kd 4h] [2h]
    THEPOKERGODS: bets $50
    Jeffray73: folds
Benglian: raises $112 to $162 and is all-in
THEPOKERGODS: calls $73.25 and is all-in after a long dwell up.

I get to stack the guy when all he has was a set.
Is this good play by me, or was I simply lucky to be up against someone this worked against?
And would anyone else sitting there with [Kh 7d Kc Ah] get done in this way too?

I think you got lucky, I wouldn't get stacked here unless I really thought you were bad/overagg.
