Did Anyone Witness The Chaos At Heuston Yesterday Evening?

Well I've seen it all now, this was muppetry at it's utmost highest, Jim Henson would have been proud.
Apparently a train broke down about ten miles outside of Hueston. Now this happens quite often, so nothing new there, its what ensued then that was comical to a degree but utterly infuriating. Somebody came over the intercom and gave a whole heap of confusing and WRONG information about what platform people should be on and what trains were going where. Totally contradicting the electronic information board. With this everybody or certainly most people disembarked most trains and could be seen running up and down the platforms wondering what train they should be on. Now I mean crowds of people sprinting around the platforms, it truely was a sight. I stopped and asked one of the inspectors (one of the nice guys of the few), he told me to get back on the train I got off that somebody is getting it badly wrong in the information centre. He said he had never witnessed anything like what he was then witnessing, absolutely nobody new what train they should be on, and to make matters worst the guy in information actually kept repeating himself. Anyhow my train that normally pulls in at 19:00 go there at 20:15, partly because most trains then had to stop at every stop to let people off. I always thought that Irishrail was just a badly run company but this really took it to a brand new low. :(

The 17:05 Dublin Limerick died near Hazelhatch, the 17:10 to Athlone was used to push the train forward into the loop at Hazelhatch which is a complex manoeuvre for reasons unknown it took an hour for this to be carried out

The lack of reversable signalling means its extremely slow to allow trains to go around the problem

If you where delayed by more than an hour you are entitled to a 50% refund, even annual tickets holder can apply and get a fraction of the value as a refund

If you live in Newbridge you may wish to get in touch with the Newbridge Rail Group,http://www.platform11.org/local_groups/NRG/ at least one of there committee was stuck on a train as a result and described his experience http://forum.platform11.org/showthread.php?t=1178

The last serious screw up I have listed was June 30th and the frequency of these incidents has reduced in fact since local pressure was applied

Well that's interesting. I'd love if someone was available to hand out these claim forms at stations. If enough people claimed I reckon something would have to be done about it.
