Do anybody else think that there are too many foreigners in Ireland? I'd like to see who's for and against as to find out the general view out there.

IMO the reason the government wants them to come in is to cheapen wages for employers and let the tax payers look after their expences. Thats my opinion anyway. Any thoughts?

A good old fashioned troll indeed. We need the foreigners. We don't need trolls. So go back to where you came from.

Working with the 'foreigners' and helping them learn English I have already noted that their grasp of the language is more advanced than yours. So no there aren't too many, in fact you might be able to learn something from them.

No there aren't too many "foreigners", or non-nationals as they are known. The more the merrier, if they're here to work then good luck to them. There are far too many bigoted narrow-minded racists though...in my opinion.

It is about time Ireland had a mixed culture. We are playing catch up with the rest of the world again.

Ireland really needs some immigration control. Not for the reasons stated in the Op though.

Businesses want immigration for more profits. The make money out of immigration.

The immigrants need cloths, housing, food etc which in alot of cases is paid by the tax payers.

1 in 5 houses are now being bought by foreigners. This is pushing up prices for the ordinary Irish tax payers.

The immigrants' chrildren need to be schooled. This means more teachers are needed. More classrooms/schools need to be built (by the tax payer).

Just the other day Mary Hanafin announced that 800 teachers would be provided not to help reduce class sizes but to help foreign students learn English. This I presume will be paid by tax payers too.

Immigrants aren't entitled to any of this.

hate to burst your bubble but the tax payer includes 'non-irish' residents.
    Why do we NEED foreigners?

We have a employee defecit that would have crippled the country without the new influx of workers

I think you are mistaking people seeking aslyum for immigrants

1 in 5 houses are now being bought by foreigners. This is pushing up prices for the ordinary Irish tax payers.

How about we all start to buy houses in Bulgaria, Turkey or some other eastern country. That will teach them.... Oh wait, what are the Irish already doing.

I really hope more schools are built. We need them along with hospitals.

Unless it is a private school, of course it will be paid for by the tax payer. Imagine learning another language in school, crazy education system we have here.

the continued growth of the economy is partly due to immigration. they often come and take jobs that most Irish people wouldn't want. you complaining about them using our tax money is pretty stupid too. in Britain immigrants pay more tax than than they use up (social benefits and the like) and although i can't be sure i would assume it is a similar situation here

Wouldn't that involve relaxing immigration control?

Read the charter, I added a rule specially for these kind of threads, OP. There has been enough immigrant bashing threads on this forum already and its starting to turn into one. Locked.

He means the comments above are so far from reality they must be a troll.

Does Ireland have a huge unemployment problem? No, and that's because we actually need people to work, our economy is growing so large that we actually need these people. Who do you think will do this work if they don't?

Perhaps you think we should take back the 40 million irish decendants from around this planet instead? Or do you think that's it's fine and dandy for us to go to every other country out there, but nobody should come here.

    /edit
    sorry Ruu
