Am i the only one noticing a trend beginning on eBay with sellers, that they wont leave positive feedback, until you leave them positive feedback?

Now surely, as a buyer, you have kept your part of the bargain with immediate, or prompt payment, so the seller should leave positive feedback straight away.

If you dont leave any feedback, then I receieve an emaila few weeks later, complaining i didnt leave any. Tempted to leave poor feedback for poor communication, but then they will only respond in kind.

Annoying. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Not a whole lot you can do about it. Actually the majority of people I have bought from left feedback right away, I always pay as soon as the auction ends or at most within a few hours of the auction. Indeed leave negative feedback or neutral feedback for poor communication, I've had to do it once or twice.

I whole heartedly agree, some sellers do leave you feedback straight away after a payment is received but like you say a majority dont until they get the good feedback too,its not exactly a good situation as you could potentially receive feedback for doing absolutely nothing wrong....its rather annoying yes,in summary.

It's not new, TBH. It's quite common that the seller will wait until you provide feedback so that he will respond in kind. I've had it happen to me: I left negative feedback (Deservedly) and he left negative feedback (Despite paying within 30mins of the auction end, communicating well, etc.). He actually had the cheek to explicitly state in the feedback that he'd change his feedback if I changed mine. *boggle* I'm sorry I didn't pursue the matter further.
I'd suggest you leave fair feedback and do your own thing. If you experience a case like mine - please, get in touch with eBay and see what their stance on this is. I'd suspect it's just a case of "Tough. It's a flawed system, but such is life..." but I'd like to know.

I emailed my latest seller doing this - asked him to the point. Here is the reply. I will leave out his details, as it seems a fair reply
Being power sellers and dealing in some case’s with over 100 e-mails and 40 sales a day, e-bay is set up so as soon as we get feedback automatically it leaves it for you, then completes and archives the sale details.

This saves us endless hours checking e-bay and marking feedback for items and archiving.

The e-mail you received is system generated by e-bay not us, and is their way of making it easier and quicker for us to complete transactions.

The system is designed by e-bay and using the selling manager pro gives you options to help speed up individual transactions.

Hope that helps explain why sellers use this system. It is ebay’s way of making the process quicker for sellers

    Many thanks for your business

    Best Regards

So that explains Power sellers. Now my axe to grind is just with ignorant jerks ;)

It is nothing short of feedback extortion imho. :(
