Did RTE ruin it for Dublin?

Not making any excuses for Dublin but I wondered if RTE going in to get a scoop put more pressure on the Dublin players.RTE went inside St Davids to get interviews with Dublin players in particular Jason Sherlock.

Does anybody think this was unnecessary?I certainly do.You didn't see them going into Mayos camp,so I think the media were Dublins enemy.I felt Mayo were quiet and rightfully so.I think the media should stay away from teams before a big game as it is unnecessary pressure.

Listen, someone has to lose. You can be looking all around for answers.

Dublin weren't just quite good enough on the day ... probably not a strong enough bench was the turning point if any.

Spot on Culchie, the bench was strong but used badly in my opinion, key players got no game time all summer when fullback was an obvious concern etc etc ... all great with hindsight ... but hey, whats done is done, go and win the thing now Mayo, so we can console ourselves that we were beaten by the best team in the country ... again ... ;)

That looks a bit like a desperation grasp Blackbelt, couldn't agree with Culchie more. No excuses, we just lost.

It looks like you are making excuses tbh, i think its time to just admit Mayo got the better of Dublin on the pitch.

Ah yes of course! It was obviously RTE's fault Dublin lost.

Everyone knows Dublins the greatest gaelic football team in the world! They've invincible and only ever loose because of referees, tv stations or the current alignment of the planets.

Dublin were overrated this year, they were overrated last year and i'm sure they'll be overrated next year.

I know its not the players fault or the genuine fans fault, it is the media's fault. But if you keep hearing something long enough you will begin to believe it.

Dublin are NOT that great, they improved from last year but are still way behind the kerrys of this world.

No offence but i'd put Dublins semi-final place on par with Clares in the hurling. Played no big teams, had to beat a Wexford team on their way downhill to get into the semi and didn't deserve to be there.

I am not desperate and I repeat...I am not making excuses for Dublin. The best team did win on the day and they won fair and square.I am more than happy for Mayo especially since my family are from Mayo.I hope they go on to beat Kerry because this 55 year drought without an All Ireland is gutwrenching for Mayo fans plus they deserve it and are more hungry for it.I'll be at the final please God wearing my green and red jersey.

I was thinking today that it was a mistake for Dublin to let the national tv station into the training camp a day or two before the big game. The media should leave these teams alone to train instead of adding more pressure to the team.So you want a scoop?...why not ask the Dublin supporters what they thought instead of the players?Dublin don't want the media coverage or any of this hype hype.

I am bitter towards the media, not Mayo, not their fans and not even the referee.Read what I posted in the other threads regarding the match.I never said Dublin were the best in the country but I do think its unfair to hassle players before a match.Dublin are not number one or even number 2 but are in the top 4 or 5.

The reason Dublin are not in the final is because they got beaten by the better team on the day last Sunday but you can't help wondering if all this media coverage and hype caught up with Dublin.I think it had a negative effect on the team.I also put a question mark in the thread title,so don't accuse me of grasping at straws when its a valid question.

The media coverage was irrelevant Blackbelt, and if Pillar didnt want the media at these sessions they would not have been there. That is something that Dublin players particularly are used to, and I do no think it adds any more pressure.

Dublin lost that game because they made the same mistake previous Dublin teams made.... they believe that 'arse boxing' so called by T Lyons wins games rather that scoring more than their opponents.

When Dublin forget about the 'arse boxing' and concentrate on playing football they will win championships....

Vaughan hit the post with his first touch, Mayo went straight down and scored. Difference between 1 point up and 1 point down. If it had crept inside the post and Dublin won people would be talking about what a great subsititution it was. Sport. Two evenly matched teams, could have gone either way.
