    Fyi

I have decided to start my own thread on how to recieve the channels.
I bought a card of ebay PCI Analogue and DVB tuner on board I have cabled my apartment so I can recieve channels in both rooms.

    I bought a aeriel in Maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=47022&criteria=megaboost&doy=30m8
Now I can only get a very dodgy TG4 on ch55 it seems it picks up Kippure alot better than 3 rock the Aeriel is in the attic I have also tried it from the balcony but still the same.

I went for a walk yesterday around the area to look at the aeriels (very sad) around 70% of people have a grid aeriel pointing at claremount carn. Im thinking I would be better off doing this aswll.
What do you guys recommend to me.
    What equipment would I need.

Vertical polarised Group C/D yagi aerial.

The grids are cheap wideband. Pickup a lot of interference.

With a really good aerial system with separate A and B group aerials, (monster top of the range Kathrein) big pole, chanalised amplifiers you can even get all four UK Freeview Mux in Skerries!

I think the practical thing is make sure that they are getting RTÉ from Claremont Carn, and don't assume. If you know your neighbours well, check the setup of their TV's and even ask in the local TV shop.

The lack of local knowledge is hindering your quest, there doesnt seem to be anyone posting here with the precise local knowledge of Skerries.

    Psygnosis,
All the aerials in your area are pointing at the transmitter in Kilkeel and not at Claremont Cairn like you seem to believe. If you want to pick up DTT in Skerries the aerial you will need is a Hirschman group B which you will pick up in Wescos in Drogheda for around 100 yoyos.By what you are saying I reckon that you are living somewhere in the Kellys Bay area.

DMC I havent been keeping an eye on the boards lately to have made a reply sooner.

The aerial should be put outside for best effect. Besides, it may be too big for the attic!

Now, could all queries about getting the DTT Trials please be posted on the Sticky on the top of the page. It may make it easier for others to read up and learn from other boards users who have already asked the same question.

And in case anyone is wondering, I have moved 2 threads to their relevant Sticky's on the top of the page.

I'll keep this thread going for now but will reassess later! :)

    SPawker,
    I live in Donabate.
Would you recommend a Hisshman Group B Aerial also for me.
In which direction would this point.
Should I use a masthead amplifier with this.

    Thanks

    onconnow,
Yes I would reccomend a Hirschman group B aerial which you will need a group B amplifer and a power unit to enable it to work. The direction you will need to point it depends on where you are in Donabate, but it should be pointed in a northwesterly direction.Have a look at the aerials in and around your area to get a rough idea.

    Psygnosis,
No the aerial will need to be put outside because it is far to big to be put in an attic and it would not work properly in the attic.
