Hi All,
I got this machine for a mate and am trying to get it working for him. I am nearly sure the hard drive is nackered but I thought I would throw it past you folk anyway. When it is turned on it goes to the screen for safe mode, normal and last knowen good configuration. When you select any option it gets to the Windows XP screen and the hard drive clunks and the machine starts again. I have tried to use a boot CD but it will not recognise the cd as a boot cd. I have also tryied to boot the machine with the harddrive removed and use an open source Knoppix bootable cd but it will not recognise that either. It says it is not a bootable cd. have also tried a Windows XP and a Windows 95 install CD. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated. This also tells me it is more then the harddrive that is gone worong, maybe the ram as well.
