Sigma will announce on the first day of Photokina the new Digital SLR SD14, with a "full color capture direct image sensor", probably a Foveon Chip.

Looking fordward to see what the Foveon technology is capable of.

Well, that's not the photo I'd use for a promo shot.

It looks like Sigma already sell cameras with this sensor. http://www.sigma-photo.co.jp/english/camera/digital/sd_10.htm

The Sigma SD-9 and SD-10 cameras both used Foveon sensor, they are both discontinued (SD-10 came out in 2003) as they never were very popular.

The video ad on the link above of the SD-14 doesn't mention the Foveon Chip, but looks like a new version of it. Let's see if Sigma and Foveon have learnt from past mistakes..

I read a bit about that chip. Works like film emulsion with three layers for the different colours. Potentially I reckon it could produce really good, film like results. It will be interesting to see the reviews.

It does produce better results than the Bayer type set ups in every other manufacturers cameras. Just another Beta-Max I'm afraid though, a better standard but just not accepted into the mainstream. It would be genuinely great if the big wigs took the Foveon on board, but seeing as Canon produce their own chips that will probably never happen.

I've been thinking about this for a while ,because of the price of cameras.
How many different types of adapters are available for the various lenses???
I know that nikkor lenses can be used on canon cameras with an adapter ,what about the other way around and canon/sigma lenses on sigma cameras.
