Dropped my camera in a pint!?

So I dropped my Sony Cybershot DSC-T3 in a pint a few weeks back (Funny story for another time). Anyway I pulled it out straight away and dried it off. I didn’t turn it on for a few days so as to let it dry out. Now camera wise its working perfect but the lens cover won’t close over, it just makes an odd clicking noise and then nothing. Obviously there is a motor or something broken. It cost me €200 second hand and its takes great quality pics (I’m happy with them anyway). So do you think it would be worth my while getting it fixed or just keep using it until the lens gets too damaged to be any use? It’s already looking pretty bad, PIC

I've heard talk of a guy in Portobello who does repairs, would he give me quote if I rang and described the problem to him? TBH max I'd be willing to pay is €50 really, is this even realistic?

    Was it stout?

It can't have been that stout, otherwise it wouldn't have fit in the glass. Boom, boom. Sorry.

Just plain old Budweiser, I drank the rest of it too. Figured I didnt want to make a total loss.

if that happened to me ,I'd try putting a couple of drops of lens cleaning fluid on the lens and try and get the mechanism to free up....
Sounds like the beer has stuck the window closed.

Just a suggestion ,never heard of anyone trying to fix one before

I honestly think that the camera repair guy will probably charge you fifty quid just to take a look at it. Anything he does after that will be extra. Just guessing mind.

With the lens cover working properly it should look like this

I'm almost tempted to open it and see if I could fix it myself ;)
