I have a java application that needs to connect to an smtp server to send a email. Its not a spamming service, its just for a test i need to run.
I've tried creating an account with eircom.net and a yahoo account but neither work.
eircom give a connection refused and a read up says:If you are NOT using an eircom net connection, you MUST use your internet provider's own SMTP server.
yahoo say look here and if yer not one of those applications then sod off.
i understand the need to prevent spamming but does anyone know a service i could register with and allow my app connect in?

What he said ^. Most ISP SMTP servers limit access to people connecting from one of their own ip addresses. Other SMTP servers can only be accessed if you have completed a successful login on the corresponding POP3 server within a specified period.
