Im thinking of getting the core system because its cheaper and my friends wireless controllers are pretty crap because they keep running out of power.

Only downfall is, can I not save a game if I dont have a hard drive? Is there no onboard memory???

Don't do it, get the premium system and if you then end up buying batteries too often then get the play and chage kit for your controller as well. If you get the core then you'll also be needing a memory card just for your game saves and then you'll also miss out on most of the good stuff available on the marketplace and the rest of Live as well.

Get the premium system and save yourself hassle in the future. I dunno why MS released the Core package; well, I do, but they shouldn't have!.

Agree with all of the above.

If you buy the Core package you WILL end up buying the hard drive later on anyway cos it'll crack you up.

    It's like buying a car without a roof - sure, it's cheaper.

    Initially.

Oh yeah, I forgot all about live! Thanks for the help.

How big are general trailors and extra maps etc??? Couple 100 mb?

My friend has a 20gb hard drive on his xbox and it only says he has 12GB free?!?!? I think this is absurd.

I know all about the 20 giga bits but taking 8 gb off from formatting is unbelievable and is a sham! Or am I missing something here?

yup i agree with everyone here you just need a hard drive to get the most from this product.

Yeah it is a little annoying that there is only 13gb free but its more than enough.

Some demos are 800 Mb so you do need it

the 360 is great because of demos, videos and arcade games. its just class for those things

There aren't that many truly great games

look at peoples xbox signatures and just look how many games are from live

There area some demo music and video tracks on the hard drive when you get it as well as a free copy of the Live arcade game Hexic. You can free up about another gig or so I think if you really need it by deleteing this stuff. the rest of the space is used for updates to the desktop and game updates I think are also reserved space within that missing 8G.

You'd need the HD really, memory unit is pretty small, and you'll probably want to download demos and so on.

The wireless controller kicks ass, I love mine to death. Just get the play and charge kit, that way even the batteries are low you just hook up the cable and off you go again. The battery will keep charging even if you turn off your 360, as long as the battery was charging before you turned it off (ie don't plug it in when it's off, plug it in, then turn it off).

DO NOT GET A CORE! I started with a core, only because it was the only one in stock, but I've just built it up to a premium, it ended up costing me about an extra €100 maybe more, at the time I didn't mind cuz i just wanted a 360!! Trust me without the demo's and all its not half of what it can be!

Its not formatting, its the emulator to run the backwords compatible games.
Personally I'd rather the 8 gbs.
