I placed an order for an Airsoft gun from www.Gizmos-uk.com about 3 weeks ago and still no word. when I placed the order it was filed under my pre-orders, however a week later it was taken off so I assumed it was being shipped. I talked to them and they said it still wasn't in stock. I have no record of that order anymore on my login. they gave me an order number but I have no way of checking on it other than calling them every day or two to see. has anyone else had any problems with these guys before?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

Sorry, the chronology eluded me on that one!
At least I have someone on this forum to help spread the word about Gizmo's "quality" service now!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

is there anything I can do?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

Tell them you want a full refund because they are breaking your right as a consumer and if not you will file legal action against them in the small claims court. Scare the $h1t outta them goodstyle!

EDIT: Also try get the word out about them.

They're on holiday till September 4th. I asked on online chat and they shutdown completly so no deliveries will be made. Terrible timing eh?

A lot of companies across mainland Europe shut down for holidays so if thats what they are saying then its possbily true.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,628 ✭✭✭Asok

I read the holiday notice on their site some time ago, Give them a shout on monday and see what the story is

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

They said they're away...em, since when does a whole shop pack up for holidays?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

personally id be demanding my money back by now, or contacting my credit card company to have the payment revoked.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

    where is the notice?

    nvm I found it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

Its in their forum...btw can I say, it is apparent to me personally (see the legal discalimer there again?!) that they are all gimps on tha forum(boards.ie is in no way responsible for my views or opinions).

Its the way things are done there and yes the whole place shuts down including factories, shops etc. for a holiday period.

Take it from people who have had experience of this.

I ordered from them and to be honest they seemed quite helpfull, they told me my gun would ship on monday.

All problems with Gizmos seem to have occured this month, and considering a lot of European companies shut down for the month of August, i'd guess this is the reason. I'm not saying they are great and brilliant and that from next week on, they will provide a flawless service, i just think some people are maybe being a little quick to start the "avoid gizmos for life" campaign. If these kind of problems are still around after next week then i'd be more likely to agree with you. Until then (i've never used Gizmos) i think ill reserve judgement.

Such statements do not carry any weight in libel cases. I've edited out the only libellous comment here so far. If you guys want to make negative comments on retailers, that's fine - it'd be an unbalanced thread of advertising otherwise. Just stick to the facts rather than saying something like "Erra, they're all crooks" or whatever. The former is fair comment, the latter grounds for libel, despite any and all disclaimers, and boards.ie would legally be the publisher.

I posted a link to a guy who suffered exactly the same fate, same story, same everything (that cant be libel, can it?) so far. It took him 3 months to get his money back. Also note on that thread he said they seemed "very nice" on the phone but did nothing to help.

Sparks, sorry about the libellous comments. I dont wanna cause any trouble for anyone.

ok my opinion of gizmos is NOT good, i'd also like to say i didn't get this oppinion from boards but from shopping with gizmos.

me and ten friends desided to buy a wholesale package off of them. in all it cost £1600. the package was for setting up a paintball site, it included:

10 markers (all licensed(mine to my dad))
    10 overalls
    10 boxes of 2000 paintballs
    10 20 oz co2 tanks
    10 masks
    1 co2 fill station
    3 squeggies

well the guy who orderes it for all of us paid extra for the 24 hour delivery(HA)
next day nothing arrives so he rings, they say "ohh yeah sorry, all the stuff has been sent except the paint. you see we just changed from summer to winter paint, so we have to wait for all of the paint to arrive" thing is we had planned to play paintball that weekend and we had to wait for a few weeks for the paint. well that's a bummer ahh well we'll wait.

so the rest of the package is supposed to arrive that day, but hey what do you know it didn't, so Niall called again and asked what was going on and whether they had what ever sh** they had together (but in better language). they said they were sorry and that he would PERSONALLY talk to the courier and give him the address as he got on the boat.

    Guess what!!

    nada
    zip
    NOTHING

so Niall calls again and they say "ohh sorry, it'll be out tommorow" so tommorow arrives and guess what, a package (about a week late but anyway). so Niall opens it up and soon realises a problem. where are the markers? so he calls and says
"i got a package this morning thing is, there wasn't any markers or paint"
"well of course there wasn't they are out of stock"
"no, no i know the paint is but where is my markers?"
"their out of stock, they'll be in on monday"
$££$%£$*&Y$£$%%^&^&^*^$&^&^*%^£^$*%E&&*^$^&*^%*&*$&$^^%*%^£%&$" (can't be said might get sued)

so yeah, about 20 emails and 10 calls later the first markers arrives. (notice i said first!!) last i checked it had been 3 months (yes months) and we were still 2 markers short.

P.S. Niall complained about the paintballs (among other things) and they said we would get extra free, but when they arrived it was only the 20,000. so Niall has printed ALL the emails and is going to "complain" as soon as the last stuff arrives.

that's my 2 cents and i hope it is libel free.

jesus whupass thats grim  ,hope ya get it all sorted soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

that sucks whupass, just out of curiousity, if you were planning on setting up a paintball site, could you sue gizmos for loss of earnings due to the fact that the equipment which you were buying from them is essential to the business?

You know I know people who have done this. Because it cost you's money to order it it means you were out of pocket and depending on the stuff for an income. You could make some cash out of them...that is persuming they are actually a proper business (which Im not saying they aint but its iffy with the reports Iv been hearing).

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 305 ✭✭Shigsy

I get the impression its a couple of people who got together, buy a load of gear in from Asia, setup a site (a pretty basic one at that) and sell the stuff from their garage. As for getting money out of them for not posting when theyr should, i can't see you getting anywhere with that. Best you can hope for is to have your shipping costs refunded or something.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 960 ✭✭✭Harekin

Yeah but they are depending on the gear for an income, they specifically requested 24hour delivery because they needed the stuff for the next day. They probably let down customers and lost business for not having the gear to set up their paintball site when they advertised they would.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 828 ✭✭✭whupass

n we got all the stuff

no it's not for a buissenesssessesssss(tell me when to stop spelling it, PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!!!!). we just bought it so we could camp out in a wood for a weekend ( one of the guys works for coilté and has organised a forest for us(private forest))

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

ah i see... thought it was gonna be a business venture, at least you got it all in the end

it's not quite the one I ordered... it's an improvment :D

the one I ordered has 230 fps, this one has 280!

this is the one I got and this is the one I ordered

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 828 ✭✭✭whupass

    it says there 330 fps

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,509 ✭✭✭SpitfireIV

Good going Marts! Thats a mistake in your favour :D, they only charged you for the one you had originally ordered?

How many bb's does that fire at a time, whats the range like?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,372 ✭✭✭The Bollox

    whupass wrote:

I know, some details are different, it says 280 on the box tho.

it can only fire one at a time (AFAIK anyway) I don't want to load 2 pellets and have the gun break on me or anything.

it is effective up to 190ft. the mag capacity is only 19 tho, so it gets rather tedious reloading all the time. I did order 2 extra mags tho (I ordered them with the gun)
