    Hi guys n gals,

    I need some advice..

I'm trying to use area focusing on my Olympus SP-500UZ and I've read the advanced manual and it says i should be able to use it in M(manual),P(program-basically auto), A(Aperture Priority), S(Shutter Speed Priority), Scene(preset scenes) and My(user set)

But I can only use it in Scene and 'My' modes and no the other 4.

I've no idea why and the manual says nothing more about it. It's prety annoying cos it's a great tool and i don't want to have to use scene to have to use it!

    Any sugggestions welcome
    Marco:D

    Hi Marco

Have use Oly cameras now for the past 6 years and never heard of this Area Focusing mode

    Seen and used
    MF - Manual
    AF - Auto
    S-AF - Single Lock
    C-AF - Continious
Focus lock but never focus area what dose it do????
I'm guessing it allows you to move the main focal target to a diffrent location off centre. But why would you use this???

If the above is what it's doing why now just focus on your subject and recompose?

because area focus saves me having to: -move the camera, focus on subject, move back again

Instea i can move the area of focus with the buttons and see where it's going to focus on the screen

I know it's not a new function, maybe on olympuses eh?

    Thanks anyway
    marco
