Hi folks, just wondering has anybody got custom fitted for their clubs. Was thinking about looking into it, is it worthwhile, justifiable etc? If anybody knows of any shops in Limerick / Munster area it would be much appreciated (from Tipperary and on holidays this week).

    Hi,
Why would you not get custom fitted???
I got custom fitted for my current set of clubs: Titleist 690MB. The whole process only takes about 10-15 minutes. Anywhere I've ever been, there's no charge for either the fitting or the custom clubs, it just means they have to come from the supplier rather than stock. I got mine less than two weeks later. For Titleists, you can even specify the type of grip, the size of grip etc. I'm not sure what other manufacturers offer but I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same.

They do static and dynamic measurements, the dynamic measurements are done by placing graduated tape on the sole of the club and you hitting a couple of shots from a plastic sheet: this marks the tape and gives you lie angle. Almost all professionals attached to Golf Clubs will offer this service: if you're going to Limerick, I would guess that Limerick Golf Club (Ballyclough), Castletroy, Ballyneety etc would all offer this service.

The "Pro Golf Shop " on the south Douglas road in Cork do custom fitting. I enquired about it and they recommended that I have a few lesson's that will iron ( no pun intended) out and fault's and then they will help find the club's best suited to your swing. I think the fitting is free if you purchase the club's (even second hand) there.

That's my plan for the next 6 month's so I hope to do the fitting around Feb next year. After-all, you wouldn't buy shoe's without trying them on so why not do the same for golf club's. They should be well worth the investment.

well worth getting clubs custom fitted.

at the very least get the correct shaft flex and loft of your driver and fairway woods sorted.

club length and lie angles are also quite important for your irons.

Dunno about Limerick. But Jim Byrne in Mitchell's Golf Shop @ Tramore Road Business Park in Waterford is very good.
