Is it normal for sky to get knocked out when it rains?

In really heavy torrential rain it can happen, yes. I've had it happen to me a couple of times. Should be okay during normal rain though.

It can happen but it usually shows up an installation with a slightly mis aligned dish or where poor cable has been used.

happened to me last week, come to think of it... I manually moved ours 2 years ago (neighbours trees getting in way) about 10 feet higher at side of house, shouting through window to my bro to get decent signal (on signal test sky digital screen).

maybe thats why, but it was a massive shower last week and it came back 2 minutes later.

i had slight pixelation on BBC 1 this afternoon on an 80cm during extremely heavy rain with hail. i think its normal. Some of the smaller sky dishes that are up are very prone to picture break up during heavy rain. I think heavy blizzard snow is a killer!
