I was hoping to buy a cheap ticket not sell slices of my hot gambling streak but since I know you'll need some external interest once your knocked out after an hour I'll sell you a small slice I guess.

    Man I'm going soft ;)

    See you later Ian.

Ugh. Came 18th for 320. Ollyk1 about 15th. Washout 17th. Tom Hanlon was the only boardsie left i think. Obron was massive chip leader. I played really well for most of the tourney, had a large chip lead on ym table, raising every 2nd hand. Got 1 horrible bad beat by another boardsie who played back knowing that I was running over the table. Then lost a race with AQh against Ken Dohertys 33 before blinding into the money.

Excellent tourney, excellent structure and lots of good players. Pity I didnt get a ticket but c'est la vie. I'm happy with how I played and just got unlucky in a few crucial pots.

Edit: Nice to meet Nicky power and Pokertroll. Nicky I hope you put my chips to good use!

Nice to meet you to sir. Unfortunitly my Sb JJ was no match for Tom's cut off steel with AA:( . came 8th for €700

i'll own up to been the boardsie whom sucked out on you, but was really glad to see you make the money after your bubble trouble last week

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 236 ✭✭ligger

Had 2 Bubbles in the SnGs before hand, so that was my bad luck out of the way...

Finished 28th (ish) when my 2nd (and biggest) Pocket pair 4's was cracked by the mighty Q3 o/s. :(

not that it matters but i think came 13th.

it was a fantastic tournie. i went busto last hand before the break when i ran my AK to an UTG limped KK. so shortstack play at its best after the break.

ligger were there any other boardsters at our table? trying to put names to faces.

Ahh now I know you, we have played a few times before me thinks. Was very tempted to call your all in 2 rounds before my exit. I was in SB and you pushed for about 3.5k or so. I had AQ sooted and it was the best hand I had seen in 2 hours..

Figured you had a hand but was hoping for a coin flip v 1010 or JJ. But as you had not played a hand for a while figured you probably had me in trouble. Only got 2 pk Pairs all night, the fours and 33 early on. Happy enough with my play just could not get any cards:(

i just did that to create the table image to effectively use the pushbot mode which on that table worked a charm

So you planned ahead for shortstacked play?:p

lol circumstances planned it for me :-)....the table went from being quite loose before the break to tight into the second level after the break....as per liggers example where he folded AQs to just a 3500 all-in push

Excellent tourney alright. Nice to put a few more names to faces with some of the other boardsters. Unfortunately I was card dead for the whole night and was completely neutralized by a fat Freddy Mercury lookalike, two to my left, who was happy to call any raise I made. Was funny to find out who the chief was...

WP Nicky. I thought you were gonna bring one home. You played great poker after you'd sat down at table 3. Do you know who won them in the end? Obron and Tom must have had massive stacks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭ollyk1

Ran my 75k stack (chip average 50k at the time) and QsQc into Obron's limped black aces. Twice in two week I've done this :(

Left with that question of whether or not I could get away from it. I hates that.....I had opened up my game and was beginning to really make moves and go for a big stack and a real shot at the ticket and Obron knew this so I don't think I can fold a genuinely decent hand in this spot but it's always in the back of your head you know...

Very enjoyable game and after making some marginally poor folds early on I started to play pretty well and hit a board on a semibluff and really got motoring so I was a bit sick that it ended so abrubtly. That's poker.

P.S. Absolutley disgusted by that pussy Ian's limpage into the money. Terrible stuff :D

    GO FúCK YOURSELF :p

2 bubbles in one week was all i could take.

Well done those who cashed, limpage is ok once in a while Ian, purely to get over a mental hurdle and all :) How many runners? How was the athmosphere?

Somewhere around 110 runners Paul. Great atmosphere.

I genuinely thought I was going to win a ticket last night, as I was playing really confidently, raising every second hand and meeting no resistance until Nicky Power came to the table. I lost a big pot against him that would have given me more than 50k with the average around 16k, when I raised for the 3rd or 4th hand in succession with JQo. Nicky pushed and I called, knowing it was one of those I know that he knows situations. He tabled JTo and luckboxed a T on the flop to send me to the summit of Tilt mountain :p

I win that hand and I reckon I'd be booking my flights to Barcelona, but it wasn't to be. in the end I limped in to the money like a little girl, folding J9o on my BB with blinds at 2k/4k, leaving myself 7.5k behind. i knew Ken had 2 overs, but it was on the bubble and 10th-18th all payed the exact same amount.

Theres an epidemic of limping with big pairs in that place. Ive been done the last twice this way too. Most recently by a guy limping with QQ in MP after someone else limped.
Im going to smoke some fool making this same play myself. Or be smoked!.

    Not in this spot Aidan,

I think he played the hand pretty well given the circumstances with him having limped a couple of times (and taking shortstacks of flops) and with a lot of people in dire need of chips and likely to have a push with a lot of hands.

Limping in certain spots is a good play but I agree a lot of the time its not good but he played it well and got me. Fair play to him.

It was just one of those "ah fúck" moments where its 3.30 am I'm playing well and I'm really going for it and then I get shot down. Oh well.

At least I'm consoled that I didn't spend an hour and a half moaning about my bad beats when I didn't win a 50/50 race, and bend over the table and let people fúck me and take my blinds :D

When i left tom had about 110k, the JJ AA pot was approx 85k, obran had 300k and a decent player from Lois about 150k Thomas Nolan 60/70k.

I feel the hand that really crippled you Ian was when you rightly put down the 77 after raising. If you get through there you've got some play left in you but after that all you could do was make the money.

As for me I hit two tables out with 40k and it was all I could do to protect this till the final table. With obran having so much of the 700k or so chips and two first places 40k was not that low.I felt that I had a right chance of my first ETP appearance but wasn't to be

p.s ah yeah i see your point but theres habitual AA limpers in those games. Weve gotta root em out!. Literally scalp em!

Now now Olly. What you get up at your home games should be kept outside of the public eye.

what seat were you in nicnic? i was moved to Kens right and was at that the table for the 77 laydown ian made

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,724 ✭✭✭nicnicnic

I was the raiser with 88:) seat 4 i think.

Also got to play with the chief. Had just moved to a new table and put 1100 early raise when blinds were 200/400, guy makes it 6k and three of the table comment your in big trouble. I'm thinking this guy must be a rock from the tables reaction. However a short time later i note the salmon jumper and likeness and realise I'm in the presence of a poker icon
