I can't find any further info on this in the Stickys etc so apologies if there is some information already to hand. ;) I'm going to NYC from 18th-24th October. Looking for a nice hotel near to lots of sites but unfortunately NeedaHotel.com and Hotels.com plus Aer Lingus discounted hotels are all coming in at about €300-400 per room per night. Seems a lot to pay for night! Is there any hotel website specifically geared towards NYC or another hotel website that I'm not checking? Thanks!!:)
    PS - I'm EXTREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMELY EXCITED

Check the hotels mentioned in this article:

    http://www.budgettravelonline.com/bt-dyn/content/article/2006/05/10/AR2006051000960.html

The article is from May, but The Marrakech, I think, is still offering some good bargains. My brother is staying there for $130 a night in a few weeks. There are some (old) bad reviews of it on trip-advisor, but I have heard that it has new ownership and has been completely remodelled quite recently.

Also worth a shot is The Helmsley Midtown - www.newyorkhelmsley.com

I recommed the Hotel 31, 20 East 31 Street, New York City, NY 10016. Its right beside the empire state building and grand central station. My brother and I stayed there last year it was exellent. For reviews check them out on trip advisor http://www.tripadvisor.ie/Hotel_Review-g60763-d126257-Reviews-Hotel_31-New_York_City_New_York.html

I've been going outta me head trying to get cheap accomodation in NYC - I came across a couple of decent ones - they're officially "hostels" but you've got your own room, bathroom, the lot (the reviews on the cheaper hotels are just muck)

I decided to go with "jazz on the city" - brand new hostel on the upper west side beside central park. $100 a night for your own en-suite room - try looking it up on www.hostelworld.com

another really great one (highly recommended by a friend) was www.bedandcoffee.com - looks great - only reason I didnt book it was it was booked out for the time I'm gonna be there. (also $100 a night for the room).

You'd want to hurry up and book soon though - I'm not there till the end of september and alot of stuff was booked out around a month ago.

    Good luck
