Well after months and months of waiting I eventually gave up on ever getting my paws on the 70-300mm IS (canon). Decided last week to give in and go for L glass 70-200mm which I was going to order this week.

Then walking up to the supermarket in Brussels at the weekend I walked past this camera store which I always ignore, a Leica stockist run by a cranky old Belgian... anyway, a quick glance at the window and I spotted a lovely red, black and white box with 70-300 USM IS printed on it :D... straight into the shop I go. /sings "Happy Birthday to me.... "

I never buy from shops, and I was prepared for the serious price difference but... it was that or wait another 4 months to possibly get it online. I have looked everywhere for it, and if someone finds it now Ill cry so please dont tell me :P

Anyway, I bought it.... I still havent had a chance to use it though cos the camera stayed in Ireland while I went babysitting. Was dying to try it last night but I had the journey from hell from start to finish. Cant wait to get home later :)

Anyway.... taken with its little brother 17-85mm IS here is my newest child

    Review to follow this evening...

Well 300mm is a bit long for your boobies, so there goes that suggestion
Anything fast moving to give it a good test...

that lens sounds like great fun ,the IS sounds deadly ,
    Good luck with it .
EDIT : I'd love to give panning a go with that at 300 ,see what the IS can do.

the sickness is just too much now... me thinks i need some fresh air.. and if i just happen to bring the glass with me.. noone will care, right?

Forget panning, the true test of IS is 300mm with me loaded up with coke redbull and coffee!

I'm thinking of asking Canon if they will hire me as the offical tester for IS :D
