Sorry to sound like a fan-boy but Alonso has really emphisised his class in the last 2 GPs. in Hungary his first 3-4 laps were mega, especially the moves on Massa & MS. And today...splitting the much faster Ferraris...

I don't think MS is the driver he once was. I hope he retires before he becomes the next Piquet...

Yeah agree MS is starting to show his age. Alonso did a have quite a good last 2 races.

Even Alonso admits he got lucky with the safety car, but he drove a strong race after that, aided by mistakes from Schumacher.

Alonso did a great job today, but without the safety car, I guarentee you the MS would have won

Michael had the race in his pocket, he'd just started lapping faster than Massa and it was pretty obvious Massa would pit, Michael would put in a blinder, then pit and come out in front like he always does when he's close behind anyone.

Safety car completely ruined that, came at the worst possible time and handed Alonso 2nd place on a plate. He did well to keep it though, but the Ferrari was clearly faster in the wrong places to be able to overtake and there wasn't much Michael could do. That off as he struggled on blistered tyres in stint two really ruined Michael's chances.

Michael isn't at his peak though, no doubt about that. He actually had the best car, didn't have a reliability problem, and didn't win. That's pretty much unthinkable, normally Michael's the only man to win without the best car, not the other way round. But still the safety car had a lot to do with it, and the championship isn't over yet.

It's time for MS to hang up his helmet. Too many mistakes at such a piviotal stage in the championship. He would have walked the race if it wasn't for the safety car. Then he had 2nd place available but he screwed that up by going wide in turn 8 and losing 4.7 sec.

In Hungary he lost out on a good result by firstly breaking his front wing on Fisi's car meaning his last pit stop was a few laps too early for slicks and then he messed about with cars that were way faster cos they were on slicks and ended up with a broken track rod

I hate Alonso probably more than I ever hated MS (who im beginning to like)!!, but i gotta admit, Alonso has been impressive, and MS has been quite poor lately. Some terrible racecraft, and mistakes too.

What races were yous watching? The Ferrari's were the faster packages the last 4 races hands down, Massa has got more points than Alonso has. Alonso has being so lucky all season, getting points he shouldn't have got, just like last season, how many times did Kimi out perform him only to have a mechanical gremlin or something. And as for saying MS is arrogant, Alonso has said all season he isn't worried about MS even though he was taking chunks out of his lead for ages (bar the last race), is that not arrogance?

In Hungary in the dry the two ferrari's were the top of the sheets but in the rain, MS was on totally on a different type of tire hence Alonso was a lot faster (not saying if MS was on full wets there would have been much difference as we haven't seen Bridgestone vs Michelin wet battle yet). Last race we all saw the safety car saved Alonso and so did Schu's mistake.

That's a tad extreme. Lots of people went off at Turn 8 over the course of the race. Should they all hang up their helmet too? Alonso lost 3 seconds on one lap, dunno what corner he went off at because it wasn't on camera but he clearly made a mistake too. There was a lap at Hungary where he lost 3 seconds off camera too. And he was off track at Hockenheim only to have Fisi let him stay ahead. He was also off track at Canada but he had a comfortable lead at that point thanks to McLaren messing up Kimi's pitstop. Speaking of Kimi, he's crashed out of 3 of the last 5 races and in the race previous to that he lost 2nd place to Schumacher by making a mistake and going wide on the second last lap. And that's just the top guy's recent races off the top of my head, I'm sure it's the same right the way down the grid out of the spotlight.

But with so much attention on him every tiny mistake Michael makes seems to get magnified times a thousand. He's certainly not at his peak but he's still as good as anyone else out there. Alonso's been very lucky, his mistakes have gone unpunished while Michael's qualifying mistake at Turkey which should have left him in a still very comfortable position only got turned into a problem by a freak safety car incident.
