I was heading north bound on M50 yesterday about 6.30pm between Blanchardstown and M1 and the traffic was at a crawl of 20 KPH.
    Eventually came accross the cause
    What was the cause?

    A traffic Accident? - NO!

    A Flooded Road? - NO!

    Obstructed lane? - NO!

It was a truck with a puncture in the hardshoulder and a man jacking it up. The FU€KING idiots on the Motorway were slowing down to have a l@@K!

Jesus there are some idiots on the road:mad:

I do not look... i have NO reason to hit the brakes.. turn my head and take a long look... Whenever i get past something like this i can see it for a second without having to take my eyes off the road so why would i hit the brakes and take a look???

Worst i ever saw was again,.. the M50... there were some flashing lights on a garda car.. no accident or anything.. he was just in the hard shoulder... thing is.. this was in the OTHER DIRECTION!! So all these retards are trying to look through the hedge to see whats going on!

The thing is even if drivers slow down slightly the domino effect on cars behind can lead to traffic coming to a complete stop. Eg the first car may just lift off the throttle but 50 cars back drivers are having to come to a complete stop as a result.

Of course if drivers tailgated less there would be less of a domino effect.

Also if I saw a man jacking up a truck in the hard shoulder of an M-way i'd be inclined to slow down as I'd regard it as a potential hazard. Often people changing wheels on motorways don't seem to realise the danger they are in with fast moving traffic travelling only a couple of feet awawy.

However there's no excuse for eejits slowing down to look at ferris wheels and the like :)

And a perfect example of this domino effect was on the M50 on Monday morning. Traffic at the Rathfarnham junction heading north, where i joined, was bumper to bumper. When I eventually reached the cause of the delay between Ballymount and N7 junctions, it was a JCB in the median (behind the barrier) cutting out the verge and dumping it into the back of a truck that was making mulch from it. After that it took 5 minutes to get to the toll bridge. (sigh)

I see it almost every day now.
Another reason for traffic to stop is when a garda has someone pulled over. It is unbelievable as it delays traffic by up to half an hour!

i agree! it's really giving me trouble going to my detination on time whenever somebody's pulled up by the garda.
